[Yet another clever PETA billboard](http://www.goveg.com/feat/Santa/santa.html) Way to go, guys… I think the only group you hadn’t stomped on was kids. No you’ve covered it all. I can appreciate PETA’s goals, to some extent, but JESUS FUCKING WEPT! When are they going to live back here on Earth? Sorry, I don’t have anything as “clever” as their billboard. :mad: ---

I drink plenty of milk. I use it in cooking pretty much every day. It occasionally gives me a bit of a tummy ache if I drink too much of it, but my wang’s still working fine as far as I can tell. Those PETA nutjobs are seriously fucked up. Not “coming”? Ho, ho ho. As puns go, that one ranks just slightly above the level of “Piers Anthony book”. ---

I’m surprised people still react to PETA’s stunts. Don’t you know that every thing they do is SUPPOSED to make you all outraged. It’s a very common thing these days: publicity = GOOD. If people are “talking” about what you did, you “made them think.” It doesn’t matter if what they are SAYING is that you are an asshole. I have seen this attitude from leftist groups and right wing groups, so it’s a pan-political opinion. Whether it’s an animal rights guy suspending himself from a light pole upside down or a terrible cartoonist drawing racist caricatures on the walls, their defense is the same: “I’m making people think. I’m getting people to talk. I’m shaking things up.” It is, of course, complete horse shit, but it is nothing new to mistake motion for action. ---

I’ve been to meetings of groups like that. I decided that the real motivation is to get attention, even if it is negative. They have rhetoric that argues how they need to be outrageous to get in the news (which may be true), but one gets the sense there is a neglected child “acting out” behavior to it… we need attention! But I think that feeling is pervasive across all sorts of activism, whatever the political bent. It’s just assumed at this point that getting attention is what you do when you have a cause. You perform stunts, you whine, you demand that other people change. I say, if you love animals, take in a homeless cat and quit eating meat and quietly do your part. Millions of people do just that, and represent the majority and the genuine spirit of animal lovers. ---
