Have you asked your communication therapist about the use of an iPad? I work with children with autism, and one of the exciting new things in the field is assistive communication programs on the iPad such as [Tap to Talk](http://www.taptotalk.com/). The iPad has a number of advantages over the traditional communication devices, including being less clunky, less expensive, and easier to use. ---

Hi Pyper, Haven’t had an appointment with the AAC therapist yet. But an Ipad would be great. I love all the suggestions we are getting; it’s very encouraging. Today we are taking Pat to the park… ---

I loved his enthusiasm, too! I also loved that it was something you could have made for Pat without worrying about insurance covering it, at a very minimal cost. It could be a great way to communicate while he’s learning to use his hands to write again. I love the iPad idea, too! And I also sent a request on Pat’s FB page (real name Jill).
