Why should the government have anything to do with a citizen trying to get service from a Private company like the hospital? The hospital is the one who caused the problem by refusing to take this woman’s money for her care. Why didn’t someone in the Bureaucracy of the hospital change the rules, or show a shred of compassion or decency? Is a private company incapable of making a decision like this? They caused the problem, they can fix it.
The government followed all the rules. Granted,they were stupid rules, created by those who want to ration healthcare based on how much money you have.
Again, if there was UHC, she would have gotten the care she needs.
Your statement about people dying while waiting for care is factually incorrect. People in UHC countries wait for non-urgent care like knee replacements or tests. They dont die. That is why Canada has better health outcomes. Because our health care is better. And cheaper. And not because we’re magically less fat or more fit, or are “exceptional” in some way.
