At the end of [this hatchet job](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2040110/Todd-Palin-file-divorce-advisers-tell-Sarah-White-House-dream-over.html) describing the National Enquirer hatchet job which describes the recent Joe McGinness hatchet job on Sarah Palin, is a video clip of Palin in her younger TV sportscaster days. Scroll down to the bottom of the article and click on the video link. I don’t see anything particularly pitable about the video, except for the disturbingly large 80’s hair. I don’t see any change in her accent, though. She’s got the same accent now that she did then. ---

She says “filled goal” (for “field goal”) and “frannic” (for “frantic.”) I stopped listening after that–my head was starting to explode. ---

Heck, Sarah may older, she’s still very cute, I never found the accent grating. I only find her penchant for self-promotion w/o substance, her inability to hold her own in an interview (she flubbed Hannity softballs, for God’s sake!), and her bailing out as Governor of Alaska to be grating. But she does rock a pair of Daisy Dukes… _sigh_ ---

Video of her in her sportscaster days has been around for quite awhile, and yes, she was cross-eyed, but has learned to lessen the effect. She was personable back then, and still can be when she tries, but she’s been corrupted by her own power lust and quest for that pot of gold. In her first stint in office (as mayor of Wasilla), she discovered that power is a drug, and treated her employees poorly (yes, I know people who worked for her). She soon tired of just having those small-town lackeys to badger, and the governorship was a natural goal for her to pursue. The rest has been beaten to death, of course, but I can never forgive her for abandoning her constituency in the middle of her first term. Whatever virtues she may have had, and whatever competent things she may have done for the state were negated completely in that one self-serving, nakedly greedy act. ---

Actually, while she still did have an accent, I found it far less grating and more genuine than anything I’ve heard from her since 2006. Why the heck didn’t she stay in broadcasting where she could clearly find some success? ---
