According to some of the comments following the article, the event was canceled because the tickets just weren’t selling, and the organizers concocted this “rhetoric” ploy as an excuse to avoid admitting that. ---

That and it conflicted with a debate with Ronald Reagan’s name attached to it. She couldn’t suffer the blasphemy of not sucking the Ghost Dick of the Gipper when given the opportunity. ---

Mind-boggling at first, but upon closer examination, almost masterful. Of course it’s a silly, obvious lie that anyone the most credulous moron would immediately and instinctively discount---- but more than satisfactory for its purposes, when your core constituency includes the most credulous morons. It must be liberating enjoying that sort of “freedom of expression,” utterly divorced of anything resembling reality or truth, and knowing your army of simpletons will prostrate themselves to lap it up. ---
