My Singaporean friend has just lost someone close to her. She was 27, fit, healthy and due to be married, her mother is now critically ill after nursing her.

If every single person in the elevator with someone with SARS gets it, it’s a hell of a lot more infectious than the 'flu.

Viruses are scary things, hard to treat, hard to vaccinate against, hard to kill.

You better hope that your governments have enough beds to cope should an outbreak occur in your area, and you better hope that enough medical staff are still well enough to treat you.

2 cases confirmed in Dublin late night, I go to classes in the hospital where they are being treated every day, and I’m REALLY glad they are in isolation.

I’m also REALLY pissed off that our Public Health Doctors are on strike…

I just flew into the airport in Taipei. Every single person on the plane had their temperature taken (in the ear). If your temp is too high, they won’t let you in the country.

What’s really scaring me is the number of people who are knowingly breaking quarantine in Toronto. Just yesterday, a couple of members of a quarantined religious congregation broke quarantine to go to work in an old age home! I think it’s time Toronto started making these quarantines mandatory.
