I imagine that the SAS are fully equal to any special forces units the US can put together, plus the UK has a much longer history of involvement in the area, much better understanding of the people. The Brits have always been much better at that sort of thing than the US. I guess you learn a few things after running that empire for a couple of centuries.

Whatever happened to the Ghurkas? Wasn’t the mere mention of their name enough to make grown men tremble? I don’t seem to recall them being Muslim.

Ghurka’s are Nepali’s and not muslim.
They have been gradually reduced as part of the British military for a long time.
