I was driving around town about a week ago and passed a “Church of the Morning Star”. About a block later, a little connection in my brain clicked over thusly: “Morning Star” = “Light Bringer” = “Lucifer” = “The Adversary, Prince of Lies, Satan, First Among the Fallen, Old Scratch, Nicodemus, etcetera”. . . Oh my gosh! There’s a Satanist church in the town I live in! Right there in front of God(dess) and everyone! And then I realized that no self-respecting Satanist would worship amidst such bourgeois architecture. So I decided that it probably was your average, run-of-the-mill, Presbyterian congregation who just hadn’t clued in to the delicious irony of their own name. I mean, what are the chances? [caveat: not that Satanists aren’t perfectly nice people who should be affirmed and supported in their right to worship as they please and have really lame architecture. After all, I’m sure most of them only get into it so they can get naked and munch rug during their Black Masses and everything . . .] ---

You’re from Escondido? Didn’t you know that is World Satanist Headquarters? P.S. Satanists _are_ lame. The architecture _proves_ it is a true Church of the Dark One. ---

It’s actually a pretty common name for churches. I think Jesus refers to himself as the morning star at some point. Either that or there are a lot more Satanists out there then we thought. Hmmm. ---

The Satanists are in Escondido because they’re in hiding! (get it?) 😃 Actually, I would imagine that it’s not devil worshippers. By typing in “church morning star” in Yahoo! I found several christian churches with similar names. For example: [http://www.morningstarchurch.net/](http://www.morningstarchurch.net/) Is the Morning Start the star over Bethlehem? That’s what I’m assuming. ---

Nerd check-in: Bib. cit. Rev 22:16, J.C. is ‘the bright and morning star’. Mary is also the ‘Stella Matutina’, star of the morning. Lucifer is a star seen to ‘fall from heaven unto the earth’ (Rev 9::1) so I figure if you see a Church of the Holy Meteor or Our Lady of the Immaculate Starlab then you can start worrying. ---

everyone knows that satanists are incredibly stylish. I’m not one myslef, but some friends are. Plus they throw kick ass parties. The church of satan here in SF is an all black victorian. ---

Holy crap Phouka! I didn’t know you lived in Escondido! I was born and raised (well, till I was 14) in Escondido. Where do you live? I lived near Conway school for a few years, then moved next to Orange Glen HS for the rest of my time there. My dad still lives there. He works at the Wild Animal Park. If you want some free passes, let me know. 😉 As for Satanists, well, yes, that’s why I _had_ to move away. But, I still have the 666 tatoo on my…oh well, that’s not important anyway… ---

Yep, I’m in Escondido, just off 15 and Valley Parkway. Nice little part of town. I take classes at CSU San Marcos not fifteen minutes away. Oh, and the Satanists are busy not a block away, digging in the street. Who else would wear full body protection and gas masks? Should I be worried? ---
