Oh yeah, how could I forget the ad for the deodorant with Testosterone in it which makes the guys attack deer, etc. [I can’t explain it properly] In fact, most of the ads were the best.

I fail to see what’s so funny about these guys. Not that I’m PC or anything, but being manhandled in a bar by two losers doesn’t do anything for me.

There was this one skit right around the time of Lorena Bobbitt (IIRC), featuring Matthew Broderick and most of the cast standing behind a fence and using “penis” in every sentence. The point (as was so eloquently explained after the skit) was that “penis” is a perfectly good word, and need not be snickered at. I love that skit.

Celebrity Jeopardy with Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery is my favorite…hands down.

Hard to pick up a favourite. So here’s some quotes…

New Shimmer is a floor wax AND a dessert topping!

“The late Mr. Lupner was born without a spine.”
No wonder he has the posture of a boiled shrimp!

Mr. Canal, stop this instant! I must ask that you
refrain from knife-fighting in the White House!

Why is it that the truly brilliant are doomed to a life of obscurity, surrounded by a sea of mediocrity, only to end up covered in sores in a pool of their own filth? Oh well, the beat goes on.

Gregor Wass, your presence intimidates me to the point of humiliation. Would you care to strike me?

Repeat after me: `I would like to feed your fingertips to the wolverines.’

I loved Garrett Morris as the unrepentant convict who sings, “I’m gonna buy me a shotgun and kill all the whiteys I seeeeeee!!!” at his parole hearing.

If there is a CLASSIC SNL moment, it must be Christopher Walken’s **The Continental**. I loved every minute of this one.

I also loved the one with Paul SImon and Victoria Jackson. They were on a deserted island, and for Xmas, he got her a palm branch. She made him a radio/stereo player, and all kinds of modern things that took intricate work. Anyone remember that one?

Also, I loved the more recent one where there were people in a movie theatre, where they kept showing previews over and over.
The movie never started, just previews over and over for 24 hours.

My favorite was a real old timer. Lilly Tomlin’s ad for the phone company. This was back when AT&T was a monopoly. She’d turn off a switchboard that controlled a major city and laugh. The tag line was perfect.

“We’re the Phone Company. We don’t care. We don’t have to.”

I loved that one.

A couple people mentioned the horny couple. Huh? I don’t get it. They are the model of every really, really bad SNL skit. The exact same joke over and over and over, dragged out for three times as long as any of the other skits.

Personally, I loved any skit that had Chris Farley and Adam Sandler together. You can practically feel the pain on Adam’s face, trying _so_ hard not to bust out laughing. I don’t blame him. I sure as hell couldn’t do it. I’d probably end up on the floor gasping for breath.

And who’s the guy that does GW Bush? Funny, funny stuff.

_Strategery…_🙂

</div>

Some that I remember:

Tom Hanks as Mr. Short Term Memory. (“Blah, how did this food get in my mouth?”)
Steve Martin’s Penis Cream.
The 5 timer’s club.
The one where Paul Simon was on the street and identifying each fan (“You were at my concert on July 6th, 1974. You wore a blue shirt and were on the left side …”) but then when Art Garfunkle came up to him he was “who are you again?”
It’s been said, but Phil Hartman as Sinatra was great.

I, too, remember watching George Carlin on the very first SNL in 1975.
[list]
[li]Garrett Morris as Chico Escuela (Baseball been berry berry good to me!)[/li][li]“Mr. Mike’s Least-loved Bedtime Stories” from the first season[/li][li]Steve Martin and Gilda Radner playing people who fall in love across a crowded bar and then do a wacky dance parody[/li][li]Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery {“I’ll take ‘the rapists’ for $200.” “That’s ‘therapists’!”[/li][li]“Deep Thoughts” by Jack Handey (I want to die in my sleep, like my grandfather; not screaming, like his passengers.")[/li][li]The Church Lady interviewing Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker[/li][li]Dan Aykroyd playing Julia Child as she bleeds to death[/li]“I’m getting a little woozy now”)
[li]Phil Hartman as Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer[/li][li]John Goodman playing Linda Tripp[/li]And why the heck isn’t Ana Gasteyer on Broadway? She has a phenomenal singing voice and she ought to be belting out showstopping tunes on stage instead of being wasted on the unfunny SNL?

My favorites are the Motivational Speaker skit with Chris Farley, and the Harry Carrey interviewing Jeff Goldblum one.

“Hey, What’s your favorite planet? Mine’s the sun. Sometimes I like to stare at it for hours at a time. I don’t know why, curious I guess, like a cat. That’s why my friends call me whiskers”

“Prose and Cons”, from fall of 1980: literary efforts by criminals. “We are there when an inmate is caught in an act of plagiarism.” This was also the first time I ever saw Eddie Murphy, as the poet in solitary: “Kill my lan’lord, kill my lan’lord.”

Also from the 1980-81 season: the anti-video game documentary sponsored by the music industry. “Wouldn’t you like this nice Juice Newton album instead?”

The amazing two-part (it spanned a commercial break) sketch featuring Ed Asner reprising his role as Lou Grant, organizing a commando raid to rescue Mary Richards/Mary Tyler Moore (played by Mary Gross) from reruns.

Samurai Delicatessen.

The Olypmia Grill: “Cheeborger! Cheeborger! Cheeps! Cheeps! No Coke! Pepsi!”

Anything with Larraine Newman doing her “Shirley Temple” voice – particularly the Exorcist parody.

Mr. Bill.

Joe Piscopo as Frank Sinatra hosting a variety special, with Tim Curry playing Mick Jagger, and the two of them singing a medley of each other’s hits. I can still remember Piscopo/Sinatra doing “Get Off Of My Cloud” and
“Under My Thumb”…

More as I think of them…

ALL of the Celebrity Jeopardy skits are great!

“Buck Futter!!!” - Sean Connery

“Eleventy Billion dollars…that’s not even a real number” - Trabek
“yet…” - Keanu Reeves

And c’mon, Burt Reynolds as **Turd Ferguson**!!! 😃

AAAAAHAHAHAHahahahahah!

And then there’s the “Old Glory Insurance” commercial with Sam Waterston from Law & Order…

“Old Glory Insurance will protect you from robots, because they eat old peoples’ medicine…”
