I don’t think I agree with that, Kyomara. The Geman guy seemed very relaxed while he killed Melish. I mean, the things he said and how he said it didn’t show much “shock,” and it’s been a while, but I could have sworn I heard him cooing Melish like one cooes a scared child (very “Shhh, it will be alright, Shhhhh”). Very arrogant and condecending there. I think the shock of the scene was more for the viewer about how horrible and personal some of the death could be, but I don’t feel the SS soldier was effected by it.
And I can go along more with him letting Upham live out of contempt. The only thing that could have made it more obvious is if he spit on Upham as he walked passed him, which honestly, wouldn’t have been that shocking.
