“You have the right to your opinion.”

What’s that supposed to mean? You’re damn right I have the right to my opinion, it’s a mental state, not an action. Try and stop me.

I guess there are good uses of that phrase too, when it’s used to convey a “live and let live” attitude but essentially it seems patronizing to me.

Yeah, **skyzoo** , it’s kind of like throwing in, “I’m not lying to you!” Why would one assume that I think they’re lying to me unless, perhaps, they think that the normal form of information interchange, and this one must be marked as different?

“Know what I mean” is usually accompanied with a tap on your shoulder if you aren’t looking directly at them. Don’t you just love that? Know what I mean? … LOL.

So, is it properly, “I _couldn’t_ (or _could_) give a rat’s ass?”

THe saying I _REALLY_ hate is _Reasonalby Inltellengent_. As in “Your a reasonably Intellengent Guy”

So i’m not actualally intellenget, but a close facimile?

Screw you and the horse you rode in on!

“Most car accidents occur within two miles of home.”

That one makes me want to scream quietly. When you consider the percentage of driving done within two miles of the home, that is hardly surprising. If it’s even true.

Here’s my peeve:

“to try and” …

as in " the board of supervisors hired a consultant to try and fix the tax rolls".

Shouldn’t that be " to try _to_" fix the tax rolls? If he’s trying, he might not succeed. Therefore, he can’t “try _and_” unless he’s guaranteed success, so he’s not “trying” at all. He’s “going to”.
My most-hated “non-word” of all is “irregardless”. It just _sounds_ tacky.

“So Don’t I” meaning “So do I”

Granted, this is usually heard from illiterate young white trash girls, but it still bugs the HECK out of me!

The late John Ciardi held a similar opinion, but the phrase “pre-dates widespread use of electricity”. According to [this site](http://www.quinion.com/words/qa/qa-ont4.htm), the character Fritz from _The Katzenjammer Kids_ is as likely a source as any, but “nobody really knows”.

**"I know \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ like the back of my hand".**

Does anyone really know the back of their hand that well ? To me it’s a lousy expression.

The comedian Dom Arrera (sp?) said Italians (but probably everyone) use this qualifier to say anything they want:
"Hey Tony I saw your sister last night she was dreesed like a tramp - she’s really turning into the neighborhood slut - **But I don’t mean that in a bad way".**

LOL
