So, if I see Frank Easterbrook butt booty naked in the locker room at the East Bank Club, we can boot him off the Seventh Circuit? Because I may just get a membership if that’s the case.
In any city in Canada you’d be approached for sex by married, middle aged white women on a regular basis. If it upset you that much, you’d never leave the house.
“Bothered” ? What garbage. You want more money. That’s all.
He wasn’t approached by the wife though. He was approached by the husband, which adds a whole other dimension of awkward. Maybe if he had been approached just by the wife and the offer was to have sex with her with no one else around, he would have gone for it in a heartbeat (the wife is not hideous in any way from the picture on CBC). But when the husband proposes it, there has to be a catch. Maybe he wants to be in the same room jacking off while they do it. Maybe he wants to take pictures or film the goings on. Maybe he wants an anything-goes threesome. In any case, it’s beyond the comfort threshold of what this client was expecting from his lawyer.
The process of law for which this man can receive money for his troubles is well established. Why is he worthy of scorn for taking it? Remember, they approached him and put themselves at risk. Do they not cover “If you sexually proposition a client your client can sue you and your law firm for everything you’re worth” in law school?
My understanding is that it happens often enough, at least in divorce cases. The wife’s attorney schtupps the wife. (and if he’s good, schtupps the husband too.) You are correct that it’s an ethical lapse that can end a career.
But I just don’t buy the guy’s claim of coercion. I believe that the husband merely made an offer, which his client was free to refuse. Think about it. It’s really not that hard for women who aren’t decrepit or enormously fat to find willing sexual partners. One dude refuses, there are ten more willing to take his place. Not to mention that fact that if you’re making videos and doing bondage, you’re looking for an enthusiastic performer. Someone who wants to be there and play out the fantasy. Not an unwilling participant who will probably just go through the motions.
Sure, the judge and his wife are upper middle class twits. But the supposed victim in this case is a fraud who was only after money.
So far, I’ve read nothing that ties the judge to any wrong doing whatsoever.
Those pics could simply be intimate moments with her husband. If those pics showed she was sucking black cock, well that shows infidelity and poor judgement and thus grounds for dismissal. But that isn’t claimed in the news.
Certainly the judge’s husband is an asshole and deserved to lose his licence for just approaching his client with the proposal.
The complainant is the criminal imho, an oportunistic extortionist and a dishonest one at that.
It seems to me that there is only one thing at issue here and that is her failure to disclose any matters that might bring the judiciary into disrepute. Clearly this whole affair did have such a potential. She answered less than honestly and she should go.
