I woke up Monday morning with my heart racing and in a cold sweat. I have not had a nightmare that scary in a long time. I was at work and suddenly pr0n was popping up on my computer. As soon as I closed one pop-up window another would appear. People were starting to notice. Soon the IT guy was at my desk and I was pleading with him to make it stop, and trying to reassure him that it was not my fault! Soon, everyone else started getting pop-up pr0n and the implication was that I had infected the server. Bosses were getting involved. Everyone was coming down on me. When I woke up I was terrified. Terrified! And then I realized it was only a dream. It took me about a half hour to calm down and get my heart rate under control. Seriously scary shit. ---

I was reading down the thread with the intent of posting about my T-Rex dream when I read yours. About a year ago, I had a recurring dream that I was being chased by dinosaurs. I’d run away or hide to try to escape, but they’d keep finding me. Finally, a T-Rex would start chasing me, and I’d try to fly away, thinking I’d be safe. But heck if the T-Rex didn’t start flying after me. I must have had nightmares about flying T-Rexes three or four times, and I have no idea why. ---

Just remembered one from a couple of years ago. I was at school waiting for my mom to pick me up, and I accidentally got into the wrong car. It was a white van driven by a very nice guy, who said that he’d drop me off at home once he got some food from a drive-through place. Sounds pretty innocuous, but I can _still_ remember feeling sick and scared to death at what my mom would say when I got home. “Where have you been?/Do you know how worried I’ve been?/What made you get into that car?” etc. He didn’t have a cell phone and there was no way of contacting her to let her know I was ok. I just felt a mix of guilt, shame, and fear at what I had done and what she would say when she found out. ---

My friend will never forget the scariest dream he ever had when he was a teenager: He was being chased by a figure in a Grim Reaper style outfit. The figure got closer and closer…then he realized he was being chased by _Jed Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies!!!_ We call that the “Ghost of Jed Clampett” dream. ---

I had to stay two separate nights in a hospital to do a sleep study. First one, they wired me up like a borg drone to the EEG and I slept like a log. Hospital bed (and room) was totally nicer than home. No tv, no internet, no distractions. Got 9 full hours of sleep (I usually only sleep 5-6 hrs a night). Wires all over my body, some shaving was involved, and they said I had to stay still when I slept (???). Even with all the monitors and wires and blinky lights, I was out and loving it. They called back and said I had apnea. Second time, they fitted me with the CPAP machine that forces air down your throat like a cheap porn star. Strapped onto your head like an alien facehugger. Again with all the borg wires and monitors and blinky lights. I remember waking up once due to sharp pains on both sides of my ribs and suddenly **saw doctors piercing my lungs with needles the size of shiskabob skewers** :eek:. I was frozen and couldn’t move (slightly afraid from the wires that had gotten tangled a bit and pinned my arm down). My heart was pounding but I couldn’t move. Images of that Star Trek: Voyager episode where the Seven finds the aliens testing the entire crew with hoses and what not. I sort of fell back to sleep, but kept seeing these freaky images of docs poking and injecting me. Screw that. I’m not sleeping with one of those machines for the rest of my life. Not if bad dreams are a side effect. ---

Last year shortly after I started university, I dreamt that I was walking with my best friend and a group of other people, but they were ignoring me and they wouldn’t stop and let me catch up to them. I lost them somewhere in the woods, but I eventually made my way back to what appeared to be my high school. I found my favorite teacher and he asked me how university was, and I just poured my heart out in this dream about how I hated school and my best friend didn’t like me anymore. I was bawling my eyes out and I woke up sobbing and gasping for air, and since the dream happened during a midday nap I still had to go to class feeling all shaky and sad. When I told my friend about it, she kind of laughed it off, like “Of course I still like you!” and it didn’t seem so bad, but at the time I was just so scared and depressed that I didn’t have any friends. ---

When I was about eight years old I had a cold-sweats nightmare that I still sort of remember three decades later: I was being chased by an evil… kite. Yes, a kite. The old-fashioned kind, you know, like Charlie Brown had. It didn’t move quickly but rather stalked me slowly but purposefully, like a classic slasher-movie villian, bouncing lightly (but menacingly) just above the tree tops. Brrrr.
