I think I can swear the landlord messes with the cooler every time he comes over cause he likes my aunt and wants an excuse to come over again … yesterday he picks up the rent looks things over Now he’s fixed the cooler before and everytime he’s here he checks It out … and hours later it stops working Now so cal is having a record year or heat … i live in a valley that’s in the Mojave desert as a lot of you know …it was 98 at 9:30 am … ---

And that’s why I keep suspecting that I should stop buying used cars off Craigslist… Though I do get them checked out before I buy, and the local mechanic even gives me a dollar figure: “In the next six months, you’ll need two new low-friction tires at $135 each, and the CVT’s going to get worse. Now, there’s a hail mary I can do for $450 that’ll last two to five years…” But a new replacement ANYTHING from the car company? I’m jealous! ---

Have to fly back to New Mexico tomorrow. Sister has been put on comfort care, and moved to a hospice facility, as of Friday - no more cancer treatments, no more meds except for pain meds they’ll give her whenever she wants. Doc says only a few more days, at most. As the only sane, capable one in the family, it’s up to me to deal with it. ---

The Toyota dude said it should be good for another 100,000 miles. We’re selling it to my son when he graduates in May, unless he gets stationed overseas. ---

The new parts are covered by the existing warranty, which expires in November. I’m not too worried about him. He saves money like a Ebeneezer Scrooge. (He’s nicer though.) I’m willing to bet, even on a 2nd Lt salary, he’ll have enough money stuffed away to buy a new car outright in five years. ---

She meant go with her, etc, and I agreed. _However_, I also wanted her to be able to buy a fairly decent car once she had saved up enough money. So I told her whatever money she could save up, I’d match the amount. What I never realized was she had banked every cent she made babysitting, waitressing, etc. She had plenty saved! I had to pull money from savings and my business to match her amount. ---

She bought a newer stick shift that was in great condition. She has always like cars/driving. I taught her to shift my Jeep, sitting on my lap, when she was 10. She drove my Jeep with me in the passenger seat at a deserted park’s parking lot when she was eleven. That year she asked for a car for xmas. I explained that she couldn’t legally drive until she was 16. Her counter argument was she could wash & wax the car, sit in it and listen to music, etc. She didn’t get a car for xmas that year, but I felt bad about it. My son was always the polar opposite. He never wanted a car. He had friends who drove, why would he want to need money for gas and insurance? ---

Just got off the phone with my bank’s fraud department as I wanted to transfer a large sum. It took 30 minutes which is far too long a process but the guy insisted on using the words “yourself”, “myself” and “itself” nonreflexively throughout. Virtually every sentence he said had words that should have been “you” “me” or “it” but he added the self. After 30 minutes of that I was ready to scream. ---
