It is rather astonishing how many here claim that science is not the creation of theories, based on verifiable and replicable evidence, that purport to predict future outcomes.
Any of the following beliefs…
A. A human child was conceived outside of the fertizilation of a female egg with male sperm.
B. A human being was in fact both human and divine.
C. A human being was without “sin,” that is to say incapable of errors in judgement.
D. A human being died and was resurrected 3 days later.
…are inherently unscientific, in that there is no evidence to verify them, there is no evidence of any similar situations ever occurring, and there is no justifiable assertion that they will ever happen again given our vast understanding of human biology and behavior.
All of the current “theories” regarding human beings, those grounded in empirical, replicable, and predictable evidence, directly contradict these core Christian beliefs.
And yet so many of you assert that to believe these things as a Christian is fundamentally compatible with the lifelong pursuit of scientific endeavor?
It is, as a matter of definition, impossible to be both a true “scientist” and also be a faithful Christian. Those who claim to be both, are simply unwilling to acknowledge the meaningless or morally ambiguous nature of their short existence, and seek a spiritual loophole to cope.
