Matthew Lillard would appear to be the ideal person to cast for Shaggy. But where is Fred’s swinger scarf? The outfit doesn’t work without the swinger scarf! ---

I haven’t seen it, but I can already tell what really assured these filmmakers will have a reserved spot in hell: It’s not the remarkably talentless Matthew Lillard It’s not the whole Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Daphne thing It’s not even the terrible, terrible CGI … They made Fred talk street slang. In the preview, he says something about ho’s or something. He calls Shaggy “G”. Didn’t they ever watch the cartoon?!?? Fred is a preppy/jock guy, not a f\*%^ing wannabe gangster. Bastards. ---

"Is the supernatural menace in the Scooby movie real or fake? Lately, the new Scooby cartoons have been about real ghosts, real vampires, real aliens – whereas the old shows always, always revealed a guy with a mask. " \_\_ Actually untrue. MOST of the time on the show it WAS a real monster/ghost/alien. But the pop culture joke was for it to be a guy in a mask. So that’s why people think that. ---

What? I watched this show every morning before school. The monster was ALWAYS a guy in a mask. In fact every show was the same. The Scooby Gang show up at some spooky place, a monster appears, tells them they’re not wanted here and scares the living daylights out of them, Shaggy and Scooby eventually stubble upon the answer, but don’t realize it until Velma explains it and Fred pulls off the mask. ---

Well, perhaps I’m being too hard on Freddie, I just can’t take too much of the teen scene these days. Among the hilarious moments of Atkinson’s career, my favorite is definitely a couple scenes from the Mr. Bean Christmas special. The scene wherein he conducts the brass ensemble in “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” is classic. When he starts playing with the manger figurines at the department store and the camera zooms in on the figures whilst he plays out an improv manger scene, that whole sequence is gut-busting. The helicopter airlift of Baby Jesus is the greatest moment of that series. Perhaps my tastes just skew towards the wacky. Admittedly, his performances since the end of the Mr. Bean show’s run haven’t been as good. ---

_ **Spoilers** _\*\*\* Okay First off, Fred doesn’t talk in street slang the whole movie, only when he’s possessed. Scrappy is the bad guy. The demons that are possessing everyone are real, but they are controlled by Scrappy, who wants to take over the world. I think that’s it. ---
