Funny how a radical belief system and ideology is not held up to severe scrutiny because it involves a sky fairy. If this ideology was \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ism the intellectual debate and attempts of reform would be much more serious and focused. ---

Everyone should read this Pulitzer-worthy essay, _[What ISIS Really Wants](http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/03/what-isis-really-wants/384980/)_, if they haven’t already. To summarize, ISIS is an Islamic religious movement, centered on the belief that they are re-establishing the Caliphate in accordance with Islamic scripture. Everything that ISIS does, from their geopolitical strategy to their outlandish methods of torture and execution, is based on Islamic scripture. ---

ISIS is contained as far as their territorial expansion goes, which is probably why they’ve started to focus on lashing out at the West. Might as well us the territory they’ve got to train Western recruits and send them back home. ---

Thankfully, the US is opening up more [Syrian refugee processing centers](http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/syria-refugees-u-s-centres-1.3308576), so that they can arrive in the US as soon as possible. ---

Plus, if we assume that a certain percentage are extremists, we are knowingly importing a non-trivial number of terrorists. Is the government’s first priority to protect Americans or isn’t it? ---

If there’s a single report from the US in the next few days about anyone saying something that might hurt Muslims’ feelings, the FBI should come down with all its might on the offenders and investigate it as a hate crime. ---

It was coauthored by two security experts that often appear as analysts on CNN. [Paul Cruickshank](https://www.ctc.usma.edu/posts/experts/paul-cruickshank) and [Tim Lister](http://www.worldpoliticsreview.com/authors/31/tim-lister) verified this guy’s story and helped him write it. Its a fascinating look into the lives of radical Muslims. The places they studied and got radicalized. Morton Storm is Danish and converted to Islam. He was moderate and looking to learn more about his new religion. He went to Yemen to study for 9 months and became a radical. Knew Al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki and eventually betrayed him to his handlers in the intelligence community, Several people here have asked what do these guys want? Why are they doing this? I found this book answers a lot of these questions about these radicals. ---
