Yeah, bad situation, once they start executing hostages you pretty much have to act. Of course that means you’re likely to end up with mass civilian casualties anyway in the melee. With the events of this year, I fear that to paraphrase an earlier famous quote, the fences and checkpoints are going back up all across Europe and they are not getting taken back down in a while… ---

I feel for the refugees as well. It’s like wherever they go and whatever they do, the same people keep fucking them over. ETA: I’m a little surprised, though, that the crisis is still ongoing. After so many weeks of waves and scores of refugees fleeing Syria, I would’ve thought that they’d have run out of people. ---

Apparently they were “throwing explosives” at the hostages, not just shooting them one by one. So yeah; waiting wasn’t much of an option. ---
