This has sort of fallen by the wayside, but I think it’s about time to pick it back up again. The first ever ScotDope is scheduled to be held in Glasgow on 4-6 May, 2001. I won’t be in Scotland again until Christmas. I’ll fly into Glasgow & rent a car; drive up to Skye. I graduated Portree High School & Glasgow School of Art. Mum still lives up there, so I visit about every year or so. If you’re planning another around then, I’m in! ---

I will probably be able to make it on those dates. However, could you keep me in the maybe column for now? OK. I have a slightly hysterical question. Would anyone else other then me be travelling to or from a rural area? I’m probably being way over cautious about the Foot&Mouth risk. I understand it’s fairly safe to travwel between urban areas, but I’m shy of travelling from one rural area to another. This rural to urban journey needs thought. The train journey I’d take would have to go through Carlisle, where new infections are springing up on a daily basis. Now I imagine that anyone who’d been in contact with any farm would be sensible enough not to immediately jump on a train without changing his boots first (if he hadn’t already been disinfected). Also, the preemptive cull will have taken place by then. I decided not to attend a similar internetty get together this weekend because a farm near my place of work was under investigation last week. Thankfully, they have just been given the all clear, and at the moment, there are no cases of Foot&Mouth south of the Langdales. ---
