So it seems the electronic version of Scrabble has been replaced with something called Scrabble Go. The new game appeals to those who are enthralled with the likes of Candy Crush and bears little resemblance to the previous version. I deleted it within 20 minutes of downloading it. Does anyone know of a word game app that is similar to “classic” Scrabble? I see several available but it is difficult to sort them out. Google searches for ratings did not help. I am fine playing against the computer (actually prefer it) - it does not have to be against another live player. Thanks, mmm ---

> [@nightshadea](#): > > theres a game called “words with friends” that is co close to scrabble they were almost sued over it I’ve heard of Words with Friends but I’ve assumed you have to play against a live person. Are you able to play it against a computer? mmm ---

I used to love playing Words with Friends with my daughter, but they kept adding so many “features” and shoving them in your face that we abandoned it. Eager to hear if there are good alternatives, even if paid. ---

If you have previously downloaded the Scrabble app (the non-Go one), you should be able to download it again. If you’re lucky like that, it’s still unfortunately only a temporary reprieve, as EA says that version won’t be playable as of June 5. A replacement that doesn’t seem too bad is called [Classic Words](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/classic-words-solo-word-game/id670587290). ---

Words with Friends 2 is chocka with bots masquerading as real people, so best of both worlds. Real players can “cheat” using the in-game currency though. However, the speed based minigames are fun.
