Scranton School District tables vote to drop MLK holiday.

but do you have 30,000lbs of bananas?

I can’t for the life of me figure out what this means. Just want to say I will be using it often IRL. I can’t wait to see the reactions.

It’s a very funny quote. Although if he’s the CEO of the district instead of the superintendent or asst. superintendent for curriculum or something, he’s actually saying everybody else working there is an idiot.

Yes, we have no bananas. We have no bananas today.
Yes, we have no bananas, bananas in Scranton PA.

Harry Chapin has a song “30,000 pounds of bananas” in which a trucker carrying 30,000 pounds of bananas crashes in Scranton, Pennsylvania, spilling a lot of bananas. Apparently, it was based on a real incident.
Though I see how it could be good out of context comeback to anything, too

Thanks.

Man, that was served up to you on a platter. Bravo.

Kids would still miss just as many days, they’d just be absences instead of holidays. And I, for one, would go absolutely insane.

Great plan.

If the kids miss the same number of days either way, it is a non-issue. Your frail state of mental health doesn’t concern me.

The Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company is there, too!

There are MLK oriented activities in many communities on MLK Day. Perhaps some children play games all day, but many do participate. The TV and radio stations that I tune in to broadcast the schedules of events.
