My only suggestion is use it sparingly. It is a small gif but Teeming Millions using it in each post adds up. And it takes up bandwidth not only from The Straight Dope but [thematrix.acmecity.com](http://thematrix.acmecity.com) also. * * * I before E except after C. We live in a weird society! ---

Actually, krish, I did it using the [img] [/img] command. Just testing to see if I could replicate DW3’s feat. Feel free to delete the referenced post, TubaDiva. ---

Okay guys, the smileys are all cute, but we can’t keep stealing bandwith from other sites. Tell you what, get permission for us to copy these by Monday and we’ll store 'em here. Or I’ll remove them, one. Your point is well taken, TubaDiva. I won’t try to make the moving smiley faces…but I’d like to see a variation or two: A frowning face with a tear or two–let’s face it, in some postings it would be appropriate, if only to express that the poster had something really sad–but necessary–to say… like the frowning face ☹ with tears… Something with “angry eyebrows” but a smile, to express a squelch or a whimsical triumph (it’d be similar to ;)) A face with a dopey smile and crossed eyes, to follow a weird statement or funny twist to something… * * * “If you drive an automobile, please drive carefully–because I walk in my sleep.”–Victor Borge ---

I asked earlier about variations on the smiley face, including one or two with tears; granted these may be my own contrivance and would not have enough value for other Dopers to use or want. I would, however, like to know how to make that funny one with the tongue sticking out. I hope this wouldn’t required excessive bandwidth. ---
