Abbott is paralyzed from the waist down and utilizes a wheelchair. When he was a young man, he was out for a jog when a tree limb fell on him and crushed his spine. He sued the property owner and has received over $10 million in payments as part of the settlment. ---

I am a driver for a charter bus service. Our company has been accepting contracts to transport immigrants to far-off lands. I have refused to participate. I don’t look down on my colleagues who are participating; everyone has bills to pay and a job is a job. But I won’t be a part of his political bullshit. Abbott isn’t trying to actually solve a problem – he’s just trying to be cruel for cruelty’s sake. Fuck that guy. ---

The thing is - a lot of these cities have said they’ll take people but they’d like some advanced notice so they can make basic arrangements for housing, food, etc. They’re just having bus (or plane) loads of people dumped on them without any notice. It’s a publicity stunt to score cheap political points and it’s absolutely inhumane ---

I’m a very organized person. That’s probably all I bring to the table, but I’m really sure that I could figure out how to feed some hungry people with 350 million dollars to use. Seriously, this would not be hard. At all. Jose Andres does this all the time at the drop of a hat. If these people ever wake up from the evil spell they are under and realize how ugly they have become, I hope it takes them a million years to stop feeling deeply ashamed.
