Dallas is currently iced over right now. As a result, people en masse have raided the local grocery stores. One food item that seems to be a scarcity is ground beef. I go up to the butcher’s counter and see that they have about three pounds of ground beef in the display case. Great! I can make chili now. I wait patiently for the service person to wait on me. It’s really busy, so I’m waiting there for a good five minutes when this lady comes along blabbing away on her phone. About ten seconds later I finally get waited on: Me: Is this all the ground beef you guys have left? (I was actually wanting a little more but I can manage with what’s there.) Worker: Yep, sorry, that’s all we got. And before I could even open my mouth to say “wrap it up please.” phone lady snaps at me with: Lady: “NO DON’T BUY THAT!!” Me: :dubious: (at her) Worker: Awe man, you guys can split it. Lady: Oh would you? That would be great. Me: Um no, excuse me, I was here first and I want all that. Lady then turns to worker guy and does that bottom pouty lip thing. (Yes, she’s hot). Worker: Sorry sir, I can split this for you because I have to serve all my customers. Me: Um no, I’m pretty sure it’s first come first serve. Worker: I’ll give you half, that’s it. Me: Don’t bother, I’ll be talking to your manager about this. So, I opted for stew instead. But seriously, both you guys can fuck off. And if I didn’t have my son with me, I would have told you as much. Fuckers!! ---

You need 3 pounds of ground beef to make chili?? Dayum. I make a killer chili with just 1 pound and a pound of either pork or sausage… ---

Chili is better with a 10 hour-cooked rump roast, anyway. Do they have any of those in Texas steer country? Yeah, it’s sour grapes. But I mean it. It does seem like you missed an opportunity to split the…hot lady. Give her half, and make her happy, all at once. ---

On what basis are you pretty sure it’s first come first serve? I know that if I go to the store right now and try to buy up all of their ground beef (I’m sure they have at least a hundred pounds of it in stock) I won’t be allowed to. ---

So let me get this straight. You, and someone else, wanted an easily divisible item. You could have taken half, and let her taken half, But instead, you walked away with none, because you decided to throw a fit. Because…she was hot? And that bothered you somehow? ---

Also, it’s about her sense of entitlement. If she would have said to me “Can we split that please?” I would have let her have it all as I was on the fence between stew and chili anyway. I can see half being useless. I mean, if you are cooking for a crowd, there’s not much point in going home with enough beef for half as much chili as you need. If I had been the woman, I never would have asked. If I had been Shakes, I would have been annoyed but gotten over it. If I had been the butcher, I would have been stuck: no good solution there. Best solution would have been for the butcher to make counter-suggestions to both until one of them accepted. ---
