What was the point of the last three thousand years of civilization, if you can’t become President of the United States unless you assure the voters that you sincerely believe in these ancient tribal myths? ---

Politics is a fickle business. Even if the people like your (professed) religious beliefs, they’ll still make fun of your appearance or the way you talk or your serial adultery. Go figure.
