Robert Maschio plays the Todd on Scrubs. I exchanged emails with him some time back and just received an advance heads-up about this week. Do you have a part time job for me to pass the time and make some money…mow the lawn, repaint a garage door, baby sit the kids in the evening so you and the Mrs. can take in a movie…of course my fee might be a bit high, but as you see from the show, I commit 100% to everything I do…take care. I never miss it. And “The Todd” seems like a pretty cool guy in real life. I think he is a friend of creator Bill Lawrence and that’s how he got the gig in the first place. ---

How in the heck does one get “The Todd’s” email, anyway? 😕 Do you have some kind of Hollywood connection of some kind? Your doctor went to high school with his agent? ---

NBC has been promoting this ep as a pretty serious one. I’m sure it’s laced with its usual amount of humor, but maybe the subject matter will be pretty heavy. The Todd comes out? Perhaps. They’ve hinted at it before in the show. I just can’t see any episode centered around The Todd being very serious. ---

They’ve had ‘serious’ episodes before. I always liked them; they start out as usual an d then subtly hit you. I think “My Old Lady” from season one was one of the first. JD, Turk and Elliot all had patients that died - the gist of the story was that only one of them would die, and it ended up with all three of them dying. It was very bittersweet. One of my favorite episodes. ---

I’ll admit that they totally had me guessing which person would die(Turk’s, Eliots, or J.D’s) and blew me away when he narrates: **So, they say that one out of every three patients admitted to this place will die here. But, some days the odds are worse than that.** Great episode. Great show. P.S. My wife and I feel that if the Todd turns out to be gay…it weakens the fun of his character. I hate to say it, but he’s mostly fun as an unrealisticly sexist and stupid pig. ---

Spoiler for previews of this upcoming episode Not sure how The Todd figures into things, but it looks like it’s something to do with Cox finally cracking. I just hope he doesn’t make a woman smother her chicken. -Joe ---

Scrubs is one of the few shows that can pull off the "very special episode"s. I think it’s because _every_ episode of Scrubs is a “very special episode” in some way or another. ---

I don’t know if the whole episode was “very special”, but one of my favorite “very special” moments was the woman who died and said she hoped it was like a musical when she died…and then it was. ---

Apparantly it’s all up in the air about whether or not this is the final season. From Zach Braff’s blog the cast and crew themselves aren’t sure. So it looks like they’re gearing up for something big in the last few episodes. ---

But if this is 5.21 the season’s almost over anyway, and on ER they had Carter “totally lose it” and go into rehab 2 or 3 episodes before the end and come back healthier (in the long run) the next season ---

What a great episode. The scene at lunch when Cox is comforting JD reminds me why I really like the Cox character despite the fact that he sometimes gets a bit cartoonish. At his core, he is an incredible doctor who cares about one thing: saving lives. Sure, he teases JD, but when it was about JD’s ability to do hos job, the bullshit went right out the window and the friend/mentor was there for him. I don’t think these are really “Very Special Episodes”, I just think this is a really great drama that happens to be hilarious.
