So **Scylla** ’s a troll for not taking into account the subtle differences among the mental states of nutjob murderers when making a quick comparison? And I’m pretty sure Manson was indeed competent to stand trial. I mean, he was convicted, and is still in prison. ---

Calling people names won’t sway anyone. Throwing around wing-nuts and saying they they’re “naive, stupid, callous etc”, won’t do anything but make them cling to their ways even moreso than they already do. That goes for anyone else, regardless of spectrum. As for self-righteousness, that’s on BOTH sides. Unless you somehow consider Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Adolf Hitler and Ayn Rand to be leftists. “I’m just mentioning the fact that liberalism carries its particular burdens.” Yupyup. I know, I’ve dealt with some of them. I’ve dealt with worse than that…it’s the LEFTER THAN THOU groups. They scare the shit out of me…but, then again, I’ve ALWAYS been a moderate whether as a right-winger(as I once was) or a leftist. “I also mentioned in that thread that conservatism seems to attract, the haters, the self-centered, and the rabid fundamentalists.” I dunno…I’ve seen some haters on the left…oioioioi… "Just a personal observation, but a valid one, I think. Since his writing style and contributions are appreciated, we understandably allow him a little license to wank amusingly about his various mid-life crises. But I do agree with you that Scylla’s grade-school put-downs are fucking old and tired and should stop, if no other sake but his own credibility, but he seems to heed criticism and argument not in the slightest, preferring the company of smoke blowers – this in itself isn’t that rare – many people have a separation between etiquette and politics, it’s just that few go so far as the full quarantine. ---
