I squeaked out a win despite a -8 combined score from my kicker and defense, and I’m still on the outside of the playoffs at 6-5. Someone currently 6-5 - Frosted Lightning, Court Jesters, Omni and I are going to miss the playoffs. It’s a fairly tight score race between the latter 3. Overly Sentimental has 5-6 has a shot at displacing someone else too. ---

My team (Kelly’s Heroes) is on the cusp of a very big decline (as is usual for my fantasy football teams). E. Sanders, Freeman, C. West, and Forsett all lost this week to injury, likely going forward in some form or fashion. It’s been a fun year in this league - lots of wild cards. ---

Tight game between Court Jesters and I for what may end up being a late seeded playoff spot. I’m close on the strength of a good start for the Arizona defense, but that’ll come down a bit. I need CJ Anderson and White from NE to have good games. ---

Not sure why I thought it would be a good idea to use PIT defense this weekend but even with the -7 they put up I still was able to pull off the win. STL wasn’t particularly good either but they at least ended with +1. This week is going to be awesome. We have 6 teams fighting it out for 4 slots in the playoffs. I could really use the win over Kelly’s Heroes to lock up my playoff spot. Should be fun to watch. ---

With a two and change point lead, my playoff hopes now rest upon the balance of the Dez Bryant (mine) vs. Deangelo Williams ( **Kiros** ’) tete a tete. Naturally I am a 3-2 underdog in this matchup. This is because fantasy football is not stupid. ---

Fantasy football: definitely pretty stupid! Can’t complain too much because in my money league I’m in first and do not remotely deserve to be, which kind of makes up for highest-points-against in this league. (Pretty sure you’re in either way though, and our (delightfully entertaining) matchup is just to get you a bye.) ---

Wow - so much more correlation between points and position in this league than in the Big League. Is it just the smaller number of teams that accounts for that? ---

Yahoo is doing a promotion this week where every fantasy league gets to play a little daily fantasy sports / salary cap league against the other people in that league. You pick a roster of players worth $200 and then see how you do against the rest of the league. It’s mostly just for fun, although they’re giving out 2 bucks to both first and second place in these contests. They’re using it to try to promote their DFS service, but it seems like a fun little side-game to play against our fantasy leagues. Anyway, at least 4 people in the league need to submit a roster for the contest to run. You have until the games start. So put together a little salary cap roster. It’ll take less than 5 minutes. It’s along the top of the screen - an “enter contest” button appears on the top right when you’re looking at a league page. ---

Woops, disregard that. I thought it said that it was free, but it’s actually a $1 contest. It’s still sort of a fun idea - playing DFS against your league - but I can’t participate since Nevada is one of the states that bans it. I thought I could because it would be free. ---
