[Last year’s thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=800730) This is the 12th year of this league. Yahoo is still doing the auto opt in thing on renewals, so I had to boot everyone from the league manually and send an invite to your normal yahoo address. Please take the invite to indicate that you will be playing this year. If you won’t, tell us now. We usually draft the Thursday after the third preseason week, which would be Aug 31 this year. But in what I think is a new thing, all week 4 preseason games occur that night. So if people want to watch the 4th preseason games, we can schedule the draft date for Wednesday, Aug 30. Traditionally we do 8:30 eastern. Please weigh in on your preference. Tuesday the 29th will be used for the Big League and the following Monday will be used for the HHM league, so Wednesday/Thursday our are best bets. Trades are commissioner approval - most of them will be approved right away unless there’s something funky and it requires discussion. If you’re going to be unable to set your roster before gameday, I’ve allowed conditional roster changes as long as it’s 100% unambiguous. Like “If player X is active, I want him in my RB1 slot, otherwise player Y” - it can’t really be any more nuanced than that. “is starting” is too ambiguous. Mostly just a matter of controlling for injuries and last minute decisions in the event that you can’t change your roster. As always we’re open to discussing potential rule changes. I am out, sorry. It’s not you, it’s me. I’m dropping from every NFL league I’m in except for my RL friends/family league. Every year it takes me all of about two weeks to remember how football is my least favorite of the fantasy sports (by pretty far, actually), so I’m getting ahead of it this time around. Maybe I’ll be back again in a few years like I was last time I took this break! ---

Since no one expressed an interest in either Wednesday or Thursday I’m going to keep it as Thursday to space it a day out from the big league draft, which some of us will be doing both. This does overlap with the week 4 preseason games, but… hardly anyone gives the slightest fuck about those. I haven’t heard anything from Jimmy Chitwood. He hasn’t been on the boards in over a month. I’ll give him a little while longer, but I can’t be looking to replace people at the last minute, so I’m going to put out some recruitment feelers now. ---

I hate to replace Jimmy Chitwood who has been with us from the start, but we’re now less than a week from the draft with no word from him, so if I get interest from someone else who seems like a decent candidate I’m going to have to give his slot to them. Just tried a mock auction to make sure everything works, and see what Yahoo’s interface was like as I’ve only ever used ESPN’s before. There are some things I like about it, but the lack of a ‘pass’ button feels like it’ll add an extra half hour to the auction time. ---

Oh that has definitely been a lacking feature for years now. We can move the draft along by nominating quickly. I will beat people with a stick if we spend 25 seconds every pick saying “oh wait, it’s my nomination? huh. Uh… uh… I don’t know… uh… uh… this guy I guess” It doesn’t really matter who you nominate unless we’re at the very end of the draft and the #1 nomination might win. Just nominate the next guy on the list. Or be prepared - the nomination order is known. You can take 45+ minutes of dead air out of a draft by nominating quickly.
