# SDMB and email viruses

☹ I’m wondering if these two events are connected because shortly after I paid my membership, I started getting email viruses, fortunately found and deleted by my virus protection software. The frequency is much greater than before joining and it is a relatively new email address that I haven’t spread around much. Has anyone else had this problem? ☹

I haven’t had anything like that happen at all. I haven’t had any viruses, and the only e-mails I’ve gotten from the SDMB were my confirmation of payment and replies to threads I’ve subscribed to.

I’ve never had spam of any kind to the email address on file at the SDMB. I would suspect a different source for yours.

I also just joined, with a new address, but no spam to speak of.

It’s really just whichever spider happens to find its way to your mailserver-- I wouldn’t blame the Dope for it.

I joined within the last two weeks. But I don’t use my REAL e-mail addy on here. The addy I use here ([scott625@excite.com](mailto:scott625@excite.com)) is pretty normal lately. No more spam than usual. MY real addy ([scott@nunyafrickinbidness.com](mailto:scott@nunyafrickinbidness.com)) has, in the last few days, had an EXPLOSION of junk mail. Suddenly I’m getting at least 3 times as much crap. Anyone else been experiencing this?
