[Last year’s thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=698886) Current draft date is Thu Aug 28 6:00pm pacific, the same as every year, but if you can’t make it, voice that now. Carrying all rules in from previous years, including left over auction dollars going to FAAB, commish approved trading with fast tracking when both parties declare their intentions, conditional starts for active/inactive sunday morning, all laid out in previous threads. Over the years, I’ve been trying to start or participate in more and more novel fantasy formats that are interesting. The big league, and dynasty league, in particular, are my favorite leagues. But between all the leagues I’m in, and a money league not on the SDMB, I’m finding my fantasy enjoyment is diminished. I just have too many things to keep track of on sunday, often conflicting. So I’m trying to shed myself of some leagues to raise my enjoyment of the fantasy season. This league pioneered the auction format for us, and I love that, but we’ve been able to spread it to some other leagues and so other than that, this league is a bit vanilla. The membership also tends to dip more with more turnover in this league than the others for whatever reason - some years we have to play shorthanded, so I’m not even sure the interest is really all that high in general in this league. I’d need a volunteer replacement as commissioner and another player to fill out the empty slot. You wouldn’t have to continue the little extras I tend to do unless you wanted to, although it ends up being not very much work. You’d mostly just have to prod people along, listen to rule proposals, and occasionally sort out some sort of minor problem, and recruit any absent people from year to year - we usually have a very high retention rate so it’s not difficult. Is anyone interested? ---

We have two missing players - Boozahol Squid, PI and It’s Not Rocket Surgery! And possibly myself, if I can recruit both a new player and a commissioner to take over my slot. Dale will get first crack at an unfilled slot if neither of those guys respond soon. And I’ll recruit new people for the rest, if needed. ---

We’re at 9 players right now, which is an undraftable number. Fantasy interest has been down these last two years - where it used to be easy to get several recruits for every league, not so much anymore. I’ve also, as I said, been trying to shed a league or two in order to keep my interest in my remaining leagues. I’m kind of oversaturated. I’ve talked to Varlos, and he’s willing to commish this league. He’s a very good commish, fair, and I’m sure there will be no problems. I’m not sure if he wants to do the random extra stuff I do like conditional starts and stated-intention starts with late trading and such, that’ll be up to him. So I think I’m going to step down and let the league run 8 handed. Hopefully that’s okay with everyone. It might even keep it interesting since it sort of forces somewhat different draft values and strategies, something to seperate it a bit from standard 12 man leagues. You can always discuss trying to recruit next year, or altering the rules, or otherwise changing the league to your liking for next year. ---

Ok, looks like I’ll be the commish this year and we’ll be running with 8 at the moment. I think 10 is preferable, so I’m going to post a new thread specifically for recruitment and hope two people come out of the woodwork. Anyone with thoughts on, well, anything should speak up soon. The draft is set for this Thursday at 9 Eastern. Are we able to move it if we want, or are all the slots spoken for? ---

Tuesday night seems the last practical time slot you can use, the big league drafts Wednesday and the season starts Thursday. ---

If anyone is interested, we need a last minute replacement for the all-pro draft at 9pm tonight (I think you’d have to be in the league by 8:30). It’s also an auction draft for the first time this year, 12 players. If you’re interested in having an extra league (obviously don’t leave this one to come there), pm me or post in that thread. ---

You may want to PM everyone in the league, since you’ve only got a day to the draft, to make sure everyone registers their opinion. Tell them you’re aiming for 9pm on Monday to be specific. If anyone objects, see if they can offer alternative times they can be there. ---
