Let’s see how long this lasts. I have a feeling this may end up in the pit anyway, so we’ll start there, the mods can move it if they like. Announcing the first annual Straight Dope Message Board Awards - the “Cecils”. Nominations are now being accepted for :- Best thread in General Questions Great Debates Cafe Society In My Humbler Opinion Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share The BBQ Pit Best Overall Thread Best Mod Decision Worst Mod Decision Sexiest Mod in a Nazi Uniform (with pictures) Stupidest Post of the Year (posts from banned members allowed - but not of the type it was stupid cos it got them banned) Supidest Thread of the Year Stupidest Poster of the Year (banned members are automatically disqualified) Links to the relevant posts/threads and reason for nomination to be given. If anyone would like to add more categories, feel free, but the organiser (ie me) retains the right to arbitrarily refuse to accept them. If any categories remain unfilled the organiser (ie me again) will appoint the winners on a completely random basis. The winners will be announced when the thread runs out of steam or I get fed up. ---

It’s convenient that you posted this in the pit, so I can mention what I think about it here. But next time, keep the MPSIMS idiocy in MPSIMS where it belongs, please. At any rate, this thread is incredibly, mind-bogglingly stupid. It’s so stupid that if your mother knew you posted it, she’d stop speaking to you. It’s stupid like the results of a collaboration by **New Iskander** , **Clothahump** , and **Wesley Clark**. It’s so stupid, I had to eat a bowl of stupid food just to read it. It’s so stupid that the Knights of Columbus have started taking up a collection to help it. It’s so stupid that George W. Bush is rolling his eyes reading it. It’s so stupid that the other kids in its special class are making fun of it. It’s so stupid that lesser stupidities are now orbiting around it, and the standard model of physics is under revision to accomodate the evidence that stupidity is the fifth fundamental force. It’s so stupid that reading it made me stupider, and that’s what really pisses me off. ---

This type of thread has been tried several times before in this board’s history, and they have, for some reason, _always_ caused a lot of bad/hurt feelings. They’re just not a good idea. Of course, they _might_ be a good idea, if the posters around here could refrain from acting like children… ---
