I had two coworkers help me with the matching, actually. I printed everyone’s message to me out, and then made a second copy on colored paper. White was for giving, colored was for receiving. Then we spread them all out on the table and started grabbing and matching white sheets to colored sheets. We didn’t try to match people _too_ exactly, just tried to beware of mismatches and looked out for really unique tastes that should be paired. I asked my coworkers to make sure no one pair lived in the same state. Then I went through and made sure we hadn’t matched anyone one-for-one (giving and receiving to/from the same person). I did a few switcheroos and voila, done. It was quite a scene in the workroom, with my coworkers saying things like “They really call you Cranky?” “Is it just me, or do a lot of people like science fiction?” and “Wait, where is that other person who likes comics!!” They were really intrigued by us all. ---

Just a quick drop by to tell you I am knee deep in **Master and Commander** … Thanks Yersinia. I saw some of these books offered through the History Book CLub… now I will check them out. All I needed was a nudge! Now I am going to go out and hang my plants on the porch and enjoy the 70 degree weather after a perfectly miserable winter. Silly me I keep reading R.N. as egistered nurse… not Royal Navy :o ---

BiblioCat. 🙂 Another Primate: I do hope you like it. It’s fiction. It’s one I loved, by an author whose other books I have loved. I’m not sure what it would be classified as…definitely not horror. Adventure, maybe. It takes place during the beginning of World War 2. Some of the characters include an English aristocrat, her facist father, a noted German scientist, a murderer, a young wife escaping her husband, and a charming, unscrupulous thief, all thrown together in an unusual situation…but I’m giving away too much. Enjoy it! ---

I admit, sometimes I do run screaming when I see a book with an Oprah sticker on it; however, I’ve heard _The Poisonwood Bible_ was a good book, so I’ll give it a go on your judgement. 🙂 _The Night Life of the Gods_ looks intriguing. Just because it is addressed to him and all… Oh, and **DarkWriter** IMHO Oprah has a decent track record. I can do without all the Toni Morrison (I could not have hated Beloved more), but The Poisonwoon Bible was good, although not my personal favorite from Kingslover. ---

Interesting format, a good story, fast-paced…consider yourself lucky! ---

Yay, **Dark Writer**! Glad you got 'em! I have Oprahphobia myself, but I’m frequently surprised that a book I really liked turned out to be on her list. The whole reason I read _The Corrections_ was because he had the balls to turn down the sticker of the masses- and it was _so_ worth it! ---

Speaking of Oprah books, I thought about sending this one but had two other choices to send to Ellen, so… “The House of Sand and Fog” was also an Oprah pick that was better than you OprahPhobes might expect. Fairly depressing, though. Since it’s about the disaster that can ensue to prideful people won’t back down or give an inch, it feels very current given the Mideast situation. We never got to talk about it because my book club was reading it when 9/11 happened. When we next all got together, we couldn’t bear to discuss a sad book, and we needed to talk to each other about that day. So…powerful book, no chance to talk about it. ---

i got lovely perfect books in the post today. thank you, rjk. i’m almost afraid to read them, they look so untouched. books look rather touched when i am finished with them. curling is good. denmark’s only olympic medal is in curling. “who has seen the wind” sounds very intriging. i will dive in on friday. ---

Glad they got there, **rc**! _Men with Brooms_ is recent, not new; I picked it up a few weeks ago, and decided it’s not a keeper but entertaining enough to pass on. I first heard of the title in a “What sports have movies?” thread a while back and bought it on a whim. Must go see the movie! _Who Has Seen the Wind_ (by W. O. Mitchell, for those who want to read about my home town) _is_ new; I couldn’t give away _my_ copy! As I said in the note, it’s one of my favourites. And **DarkWriter** , if _The Night Life of the Gods_ is the ones by Thorne Smith, it’s a hoot! And a good choice, **singular1**! ---

I got my book from **Little Nemo** today–it got here fast! It’s Thank You for Smoking by Christopher Buckley. I don’t think I’ve heard of it before, but it looks funny. Funny is very good; I could use some funny. I’m not going to be able to take it with me on my trip tomorrow–too much schoolwork has to come along–but it’ll be the first one I start after I come back.
