We haven’t been very quick to make picks so I think just continuing the draft normally will probably give several hours between picks, I’d say we just keep going and Varlos can hop in when he gets back. ---

Well, phooey. All three of the players left from my “I like four guys here” dilemma from yesterday are still available. None are reaches, none are steals, but two are homer picks. I’m tempted to take the one non-NY guy just to diversify, but I kinda don’t like him. In the end, I’ll just go with my BPA who actually made a 53-man roster: ArDarius Stewart, WR, NYJ PM sent to RNATB and VarlosZ. EDIT: If we run out of time we can do a pseudo-live draft Wednesday night. (Everyone logs in and we treat this thread as a chat log, banging out all remaining picks in an hour or two. People who still have picks but can’t make it could send prerankings to someone.) ---

Does it really matter if we go past Thursday, I can’t imagine anyone that is being drafted this late is someone that we’d be starting in week one of fantasy and plays for the Chiefs or Patriots. ---

It’s safer and cleaner if we just get it done. You never know when a situation is going to come up like an injured starter, a surprise breakout player, etc. And we should be fine as long as we don’t have another long holdup. ---

Since I need to take a kicker in the IR round, I’ll announce it even before my pick comes up. I spend next to nothing researching kickers I want them to have a starting NFL job and perhaps kick in a warm weather city or a team with a dome for home games. That might speed up the IR round since i go back to work tomorrow and I expect I’ll be busy. ---

Last year we were running behind and punched out a whole lot of picks at the end - if people can be available and attentive here we probably won’t need anything special. If you want to send a pre-rank list if you’re going to be unavailable, I guess you can send it to me until Varlos is back. ---

What happens if VarlosZ got hit by a bus and won’t get out of the hospital for two weeks? Does anyone else have commissioner powers in the yahoo league? Do we form and join a new yahoo league temporarily? What if the bus killed him? ---

He actually made me assistant commssioner of the league this year, so I guess he was anticipating the bus hit. I don’t know what the limitations of that are, but I think I can enter the draft. ---

Things will accelerate significantly once the holiday weekend is over and people have work to avoid. I think we’re fine. Also, I love that Carson pick. Knew it was a long shot that he’d make it back to me, but I was hoping for him anyways. ---

I thought I wouldn’t get a chance to grab him, and I felt a little dirty skipping someone to do it. I actually wanted Breida, and when he went, I was sure Carson was next. I hope he gets more of a shot than Alex Collins got. ---

Sincere apologies for my absence. It’s been a shitty Memorial Day weekend (blessedly free of bus mishaps), but that’s still on me. And with this pick, I think I’m just going to undo a mistake I made in my cuts and redraft _4.02 RB Danny Woodhead, Bal_\*. My RB situation is bad enough (and the rest of my roster _potentially_ good enough) that a flier on an old guy who might be a decent RB2 for a year is worth it at this point. RNATB is (still) on the clock. ---

Woops. Okay, so let’s figure this out. Here are the relevant trades from last year. RNATB gets: 2016 - 3.1 pick [QB Paxton Lynch] 2017 - 4th Round pick VarlosZ gets: 2016 - 3.5 pick [(traded to Jules) QB Robert Griffin III] 2017 - 2nd Round pick * * * RNATB gets: Varlos’ 2nd Round pick next year Varlos gets: RNATB’s last pick next year (The three way trade, just cutting to the relevant parts) * * * This year, you traded me 1.05 and 3.05 for my 2.06 and 3.06 So Varlos gets your 2.05, and he gives you back his 4th rounder (4.11) You get his 2.11 and give him back your last pick. Now, by not cutting enough players, you’re basically forfeitting the 4.11 pick. Okay, that doesn’t change anything. But what is the last pick you’re giving to Varlos here? I guess you’d give him your 4.05 here, except you cut 3 players and so wouldn’t have generated a 4th round draft pick, right? Varlos listed this pick to himself in the draft results, so maybe it his for reasons I’m not understanding. And then the 4.11 - you got that back from Varlos from a trade last year, but didn’t cut enough players to make use of it. So you forfeit that, I think, without actually upsetting the draft because you’re just keeping someone in place of it. It’s as if you had it but then kept someone instead of drafting someone, like all other kept players. So it vanishes. I think. I actually have to run, can Varlos or someone else figure it out? Best I can figure out, 4.05 would be Varlos’ pick from the RNATB’s last pick as part of the trade last year, and RNATB’s 4.11 pick disappears. Maybe. He probably understands better than me, so since it’s probably his pick, let’s see if he can double check that everything is correct. So… maybe Varlos is up for 4.05. He can figure it out. I gotta run.
