On the plus side, Varlos has set his roster so he’s at least alive. On the negative side, I guess it doesn’t really matter what his draft picks were - by now he can just pick people up from the waiver wire. We tried to put that one in on hold as long as we could but he’s been running from Colombian drug gangs for too long. ---

Even if sometimes if you end up trading for roughly equal value or maybe even slightly less (which I’m not saying you’ve done here) you can at least feel like you’ve made your team your own, which is important. That’s what really sets this league apart. You were absolutely my first pick to invite to our league when a spot opened and I advocated strongly for you (against no resistance, so I’m not exactly a hero) and you’ve done better than I expected since you’ve joined us. But the problem is - if everyone rushes to a position, then if you don’t also participate in the rush it’s really hard to land a player at that position. We very quickly get to long shot RBs in our drafts. Elite WR prospects fall too much because of that. And WRs last long and are most consistent for dynasty purposes, leading to most of the best dynasty assets in the league being WRs. I felt Corey Davis was a significantly better prospect than anyone else in that draft and one of the most likely players to end up being a top 10-15 dynasty asset, so I was really happy to land him at 5 (even making a probably unnecesary trade and moving back from a 2nd to 3rd round pick to ensure no one else traded up and took him) That said, I didn’t really do all that on purpose. I tried to trade into the top 4 and probably would’ve taken an RB, although I hadn’t actually decided who I was going to take when I got there. I considered this to be a 5 player top tier draft and I just wanted to pick in the top 5 to insure I landed one of them. This is the first year I’ve been strong enough at RB to be balanced enough that WR might actually be a justified need for me rather than just BPA. Incidentally - I landed two of your guys, Carson and Mack in the late rounds of the HHM keeper league. If you’re right then we’re both in for a pretty good year next year. ---

Because of how old my team is, they have a habit of running out of gas around Week 11. It definitely happened last year and was the cause of my huge late season collapse. ---

Ah, yeah, I hadn’t considered in that context, I guess that makes sense. Strong start, poor finish. My team has always been pretty young - although the duo that has been at the core of my team is now on the wrong side of 30. None of my guys exceeded expections today and a few flopped. It looks like Montgomery will see plenty of use in GB and Kizer did fairly well, putting up as many points as Rodgers in his first game (the third youngest starting QB in history) - it’ll get better. The first game between Petey and I may be huge, he and I had the playoff and wildcard slots last year and winning the division may come down to us. Although RNATB outperformed us both significantly so far, so it’ll probably be a three way race again. I’ve got a 16 point lead with Demaryius Thomas, Kai Forbath, and Denver D still to play against his Dez Bryant, Tedd Ginn, and Cole Beasley. Jules needs 17 points out of Stephon Diggs and Hunter Henry to beat Varlos. Omni needs a 17 point game out of Kyle Rudolph to beat Hamlet. Justin needs to make up a 30 point gap with Brees, Perkins, and Minnesota D vs Ellis Dee with Shepard and Dan Bailey. ---

So I have 500 PMs stored in my inbox and always have to clear a few when someone PMs me. Most of these PMs are previous trade talks I’ve had with people for this league. I like to save them to look at them again years later. There are so many bad trades I proposed to people when I was desperate to try to get some sort of young RB. I would like to thank you guys for refusing my (pretty reasonable) offers since almost all of them would’ve left me in worse shape now. ---

Oh, weird. What does yahoo use “out” for then? I mean if a player is ruled out of a game for just one week, would they get the out status? And would you be able to stick them in the IR slot? ---

Yes you can place players who are Out for one week on IR and pick someone else up. Of course, you can’t make moves the next week with a non-Out player in your IR slot… ---

Rough week for me. Nelson is out with an injury which also hurts Rodgers, Gronk has a groin injury, and Rob Kelley may have a broken rib. Still will probably pull out this week at least, if Rodgers can do anything. ---

On the plus side, there were a lot of questions about how much Green Bay would use Ty Montgomery, and the answer seems to be “a lot” - he seems to be involved in everything. Martavis Bryant also seems to be in good form after a year off. I was trying to figure out how I got Bryant in the first place, since I didn’t remember drafting him. I looked it up and I grabbed him on a waiver bid that wasn’t contested, no one else put in a bid for him. Then I remembered Montgomery was also an uncontested waiver. Terelle Pryor and Cameron Meredith were free agent pickups, although Pryor has started off slowly this year and Meredith was injured. Chris Thompson, who may end up being the best back to start in Washington, was a free agent pickup too. Jalen Richard, who had a big week, another FA. Just surprised to find out how much of my current roster I got uncontested/almost free (still had to spend some FAAB) ---

Montgomery was Green Bay’s fifth wideout when you picked him up, after doing literally nothing on my roster for two years. So it’s not really surprising that your bid was uncontested. ---
