Everyone has been for it, I say we do it.

Yeah, so far there have been a ton of upvotes, but \*\*Petey \*\*did say that he “hated” the idea, so I wanted to at least give him a chance to make his case. He’ll have to persuade some people, it looks like.

Shh! I’m well aware of Gore’s fragility, but why do we gotta be talking about it?

It doesn’t really matter what I say, because everyone loves the idea. I just see the scenario where I pick someone up, then I can’t pick up anyone else for years. We can’t have anything reset in this league?

The waiver money carryover doesn’t matter much one way or the other to me, but I will say I don’t think it should start until the end of this year.

Well you’d still get the same amount of new money that you normally would at the start of every season; you’d just also keep the old money.

Last year’s money is gone, we would be starting the carry-over with the remnants of this year’s FAABs. That’s what you meant, yes?

Thanks for the analysis, basically agree with everything. I was pretty happy to get the SF DEF but pretty boring for a 2nd rounder.

I was ready to yell at \*\*Omni \*\*for the Anthony Armstrong selection, but he did have 871 receiving yards last year as a rookie – how’d that happen? – and he also benefits from the generally crappy Washington WR corps. Good job not getting cute with the 3rd overall pick: anyone in the top 3 this year who failed to come away with Ingram, Green, or Jones failed the draft.
>
> The Bad: I’m not sure I see the point of the Kyle Rudolph pick; and 2nd or 3rd TE on a team that already has a pass-catching starter? Why would you draft a second Kicker? Donald Jones plays for the Bills (and, unlike Armstrong, he did not have an impressive rookie campaign).
>
> Overall: B+. Not wild about the end of his draft, but the pickings were pretty slim there, so doesn’t really matter. Otherwise, he did everything else right (or not wrong, at least).

Keep in mind that I was pretty tipsy and distracted when I was drafting. I missed the first 2 picks but I did prerank and those players are the guy’s I’d have taken. Jones was actually a dream pick for me. I love Jones upside and he’s a hell of a lot higher on my board than A.J. Green. Green doesn’t have a QB and isn’t likely to have one any time soon. I would have struggled mightily to decide between Ingram and Jones if I’d been picking #1 overall. Ingram smells like Cedric Benson to me, he’ll probably score points in New Orleans but he also might be in an eternal timeshare with Payton. Love the Jones pick in every way, last year I got cute with Legadu Naanee, didn’t make the same mistake this year with Plax…though if the top 2 picks had gone Ingram-Jones I would have, I need immediate help at WR and Green doesn’t provide that.

I’m okay with Murray in the second. I was really hoping for Helu or Carter here, especially with Addai as a starter but they didn’t last. Murray could end up being a stud if those Felix Jones injury concerns are valid.

The Locker pick is pure gold. He was the top rookie QB for me, well above Newton, and with Cassel as a shaky backup behind Big Ben I really need a future plan at QB. I suspect Locker starts for Tennessee before my bye week and with CJ2K and Britt he might just blossom sooner than later. I gave some consideration to Hankerson and Ridley here, but Locker was a better value at a greater need.

I like Armstrong better than Hankerson but I would have taken Hankerson first had he been still on the board. Armstrong was a no brainer when the pick was made. I was still really thin at WR and he’s a guy that can give me stats today if I need them, my team is so shabby that I don’t have the luxury of waiting 3 years for a rookie WR to pan out. Sanders was the only other consideration.

The Rudolph pick was a little bit of a panic pick. I wasn’t really prepared when those keepers kicked in and I didn’t have anyone queued up. I’m really thin at TE and needed the best guy available. Shockingly he was it. Shiancoe has a pulled hammy and has missed the whole season, he’s a guy who’s had hammy problems in the past. The odds of him missing time are high and the Vikings drafted Rudolph pretty high with the intent to use him in the passing game. McNabb has a history of leaning pretty had on TEs too. That Shiancoe could lose his starting job to Rudolph soon is not far fetched, Shiancoe was the guy under the old regime and put up his best numbers under Favre. Rudolph should be a perfect fit for the west coast. When I made the pick I disliked it, after making picks in the following rounds I came to see that there wasn’t a better option. After reading up on him more I’m starting to think it’s a brilliant pick, when Clark is gone I feel confident that Rudolph will be a bell cow.

The Donald Brown pick was an easy one. I need a backup for Addai and Brown is technically the #2 in Indy. Carter has all the upside to be the next big thing and Brown probably will be a cut I make next year, but for now he’s some needed insurance. We’ll see how long I stick with him, but there isn’t an obviously better option out there on the market right now.

Henderson is a royal pain in the ass to own, like most Saints WRs are, but at this point he’s another starter who should be valuable sooner than later. Henderson is currently listed as the Saints starting WR2 ahead of Moore and Meachem. Moore starts in the more productive slot spot of course, but Henderson is a starting WR on the best passing offense in the league. Sad to say, but he might step in as one of my starting week one players.

The Donald Jones pick might be a great one. The Bills offense put up points last year, especially in the passing game, and Jones is currently the guy replacing Lee Evans. Believe me, I’d rather have Lee Evans in Baltimore but he wasn’t around. If Stevie Johnson ends up getting all the attention in Buffalo Jones might just be this year’s Stevie Johnson. Massaquoi and Robiskie are the only other guys I looked at and they have similar roles to Jones, I just like his QB better than both of theirs.

I like the Cowboys offense this year a lot. In this league most owners are carrying 2 kickers making the bye week/injury options pretty dicey. I probably could get away with one kicker and might dump him at some point if I see a player out there more valuable but this is the rare league where having 2 kickers is perhaps wiser than not.

I’ll chime in that **Petey** is 100% correct on this. FAAB shouldn’t roll over, there’s no logical reason for it to do so in my opinion. When my starting RB goes down and I need to grab his backup for 2 weeks I shouldn’t have to mortgage my future to do so. It’s called a “Budget” for a reason, and that pretty strongly implies that there’s a set time period for which that budget must be managed. Rolling over FAAB heavily favors the stronger teams, they can bypass smaller moves over the course of the season to tweak their teams, while weaker teams or injury ravaged teams will lessen their ability to gain parity when they make the smaller moves to incrementally improve their roster. It’s a pretty bad idea, let’s not create a disincentive for managers to _manage_ their roster during the season.

I didn’t see that report in particular, but Cook was on a ton of sleeper lists. So I ranked him high knowing I was never going to come away with Green or Jones at #8.

</div>

To explain my objection to the rollover FAAB. Omni mentioned all the stuff about teams bypassing smaller moves, better teams being able to sit back and save, etc. That’s not what convinced me - I’m ok with the idea of having more strategic flexibility about when to spend and how to manage your team, that’s part of the way you manage your team. But it was the last line - that we shouldn’t create a disincentive for managers to actually manage their leagues which swung me.

My concern is that it becomes an arms race where people are afraid to actually use the waiver system because they don’t want to fall too far behind. That already happens within the year - you have to decide whether trying to snatch up a potential breakout player is worth not being able to snag your handcuff if one of your starters is injured - but dragging that out over multiple years only increases the caution. I like leagues in which people are active with their roster moves and I wouldn’t want to create a freezing effect on that.

It’s not an issue I feel too strongly about, but I do want to voice my reasoning.

Yep, exactly. Disincentive to make roster changes is definitely bad. I remain neutral, though, because the idea of a rollover budget seems to mesh well with the concept of a dynasty league. So either way works for me.

</div>

I really don’t think it will cause people to have a disincentive to make roster changes. I simple like the idea of adding a bit of extra strategy when making waiver claims. Do you really want to spend a fortune to add a 3rd string QB that will probably just make one start just to prevent your opponent from picking him up? Or would you rather hold onto that FAAB money for the week you’re desperate to add a player during a tough bye week?
