At most message boards, anything I would post would get a lot of responses containing emoticons such as: O\_o o\_O šŸ˜• :wally @\_@ Or reactions such as: ā€œWTF?ā€ ā€œOoooooookay then! Whatever!ā€ ā€œā€¦ uh, yeah.ā€ ā€œrinni, explain that oneā€¦ā€ ā€œrinni, was that supposed to be a joke?ā€ ā€œā€¦ Huh?ā€ Therefore Iā€™m not used to posting at boards where I get little to no evidence of being completely misunderstood! And I lurk and lurk and lurk, and when I post my posts are all safe and boring because I keep subconsciously expecting the WTF crowd to come around the corner and lynch me. So yes! Maybe I will attempt coming out of my shell a little more and being more myself. Bathing in masking tape and cabbage, dancing in the fields of candy under the apple-pie moon! ā€¦ Yeah. ---

I tried lurking for a while. First, it was just to grasp the style of this board, then it became a habit. I hardly posted at all in my first month or so. But I canā€™t even lurk so well anymore. Except for GD and the Pit. I just donā€™t feel like getting into a heavy debate. Must keep it light. So I am just a partial lurker. ---

Well, Iā€™ve been lurking here since February 2003, and this post brings me up to a grand total ofā€¦two. The reason why I lurk is because I have the feeling everybody here is much smarter than me. The other message boards I have been to are much more casual and I tend to be the only one that spells words correctly. Here, a poster says what I was going to say. Maybe I should shut up now, and reflect on the fact that whenever I put too much thought into a post, it winds up looking like I was on drugs. ---

Long-time lurker here. I usually read the boards on a daily basisā€¦ but I donā€™t post much. You people are just so damn brilliant, eloquent, humorous and just darn nifty that Iā€™m justā€¦ so in awe that I canā€™t bring myself to ruin your threads with my inane banter. (I have tried a few times, recently, but I just feltā€¦ useless). The amount of intelligence shown, as well as the depth of understanding of so many deeply, deeply involved topics is justā€¦ flabbergasting! Iā€™ve actually printed out posts in order to study them, and figure out what they mean. Iā€™d hate to face any of you on Jeapardy! I love so many of you longtime and prodigious posters that I do look for your names, and read your fantastic missives. Thank you for starting this thread. It gives me a chance to thank the posters without having to de-lurk in someone elsesā€™ thread and derail the topic. ---

Iā€™d submit a reply, but everyone else has already covered it. šŸ˜ƒ I also try to avoid repeating thoughts that have already been added, which is a large part of my lurking habit. I also do this mostly on my lunch hour, so I have limited time. ---

I guess this is the part where I repeat what everyone else before said, and write less eloquently šŸ˜‰ Iā€™m glad someone posted a thread so all the lurkers can post something (in our own time, and written less better) I donā€™t understand how people reply so quickly. I enjoy this board because I can check back in an hour, when I get bored again, and find a bunch more to read. ---

ummā€¦ what they said. I think I lurked for about 4 months before registering, and the threads I post to are generally pretty pointless I also have a crappy keyboard, and generally donā€™t use it (right now Iā€™m using the On-Screen Keyboard program) ---

I lurk to see other opinions on the various topics discussed here. Just in case anyone wants to know my thoughts just a little background info: Agnostic, Libertarian, Male, 40ish, Divorced, No children Brief views on usual topics: 1. The bible is a mediocre book, nothing more 2)The ends do not justify the means 3)Yes, carbohydrates probably do make me overweight but I can live with it 2. Always tip service staff at least 20 % 5)Teachers are overpaid based on results of their labor ---

Yes I am approaching the big 1000 - but I believe my posts per day (PPD) ratio still qualifies me as a lurker. And one of the older lurkers at that. I enjoy reading the board everyday and only rarely find that I can contribute something that someone else hasnā€™t already.
