**I** hath taken counsel with the most benevolent **Og**. We do believe that it will entertain us if thou wishest to create journals of thy thoughts and feelings, and send them to **Us**. We will derive great entertainment from thy words.

We canst also preserve these thoughts for posterity in a place where those banned from the Board in this contest canst come and read afterwards.

(In plain language; if you want to create a journal of some type, write it up and it to PM Hawkeyeop and/or I, and we’ll save them in a hidden place for people to read when they get access to the spoilers.)

And we’ll also do a corrected vote count; my apologies to Pleonast, and somehow I attributed his vote to NBC.Hero from Sector 7G : 4 (OaOW, ok11, Total Lost, Zeriel)
Nanook o/t North Shore : 4 (BS PI, Hero from Sector 7G, Peekercpa, Pedescribe)
NaturalBlondChap : 3 (Santo Rugger, Nanook o/t North Shore, Rapier42)
DiggitCamara : 2 (amrussell, Oredigger77)
Hal Briston : 1 (ShadowFacts)
Kat : 1 (Zsofia)
Peekercpa : 1 (Pleonast)

Looks like **Hero from Sector 7G** survives for another day (small “d”). I will unvote him for now, because I’m not as suspicious of him anymore.

\*\*Unban Hero from Sector 7G
\*\*

I got a scummy vibe from his earlier posts, but his later posts about Charter Members and his interaction with **peekercpa** give me more of a townie impression. His last post right before the possible day end makes a lot of sense too. There’s a tendency in games to lynch the more vocal players early on just because there’s more material to nitpick, and I’d like to avoid that for now.

He claimed in [post 395](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=10404247&postcount=395) to be “with the advisory board.”

I’ll spend some time trying to decode **peekercpa** ’s breadcrumbs, and depending on how well that goes, I might be voting for him later tonight. This game is hard enough to figure out, without intentionally complicating things. Besides, scum can puzzle out clues as a group, while townies have to work independently. So, tricky clues help scum more than town.

Finally, a question for **amrussell**. Can you confirm **Oredigger77** ’s claim?

Well, I don’t want to vote Nanook at this point - save him until tomorrow and see what the Night brings. Hero is new, and we usually screw up by lynching newbies. Also, he’s sounding townier now.

Honestly, I’m going to keep my vote where it is. **Kat’s** one substantial post reminds me a lot of the way I posted when I was a Werewolf in Conspiracy 2 - some back, some forth, generally a safe kind of analysis. I’m not super-suspicious of her, but at this juncture I like my vote just fine. (I’m explaining all this because I said I’d get a vote on a lurker and then consider a more discussion-based vote as the day wore on.)

>
> For now, **Nanook of the North Shore** is not in danger of being banned. However, I’d like to point out that it doesn’t make sense to ban him toDay. When he claimed, he already had one vote on him, which satisfied his requirement. So he could have just as easily kept quiet until Tomorrow. To me, that’s sort of a point in his favor. Second, he said
> I’d like to give him the benefit of a doubt for now, and wait to see if there’s some sort of night action, or something else that happens. Lastly, if people really think he’s anti-town, wouldn’t it be better to just not vote for him Tomorrow. Then we’d have a ban and a Mod kill, giving us twice as much info in one Day. Does that make sense? I admit, I haven’t thought this whole thing through, but perhaps more math-inclined players could run through different scenarios and see if that approach is good or bad.

We don’t know how Og would reveal the info from this sort of restriction, but given what we’ve seen, chances are if we strategize over a certain reveal, Og will do something different. Thus, I’d rather just get him now. And as for his early reveal, role claims are naturally more believable on day one, because there’s so little to go on and it represents trust. I’d know, I abused this in the Gastard mod game and got away with a leper claim (which was completely ridiculous) for four days. If I was Nanook, I’d have claimed on day one whether Town, Scum, or PFK with a restriction like that, and if I was PFK, I’d have more reason to do so since it’d look townier.

On masons:

I trust our Charter Members to know whats best, but I find myself in substantial agreement with Pleonast. While it might not be optimal strategy with normal masons (who can talk, and know all the others), I think in this case, once one is out, all should come out.

Consider that the greatest value of the masons in this game is to confirm eachother and shrink the size of the pool that scum are hiding in. If they are in a circle arrangement, with the head eating the tail, so to speak, the loss of one before reveal doesn’t hurt Town so bad, but if they’re in an open-ended chain, then the loss of amrussell breaks that chain. Further Mason claims can’t be trusted as far, and we lose the value of the roles.

I believe its riskier for our remaining Masons _not_ to claim, at this point.

On peeker:

I don’t understand the purpose of the claim, Peek - what exactly are you trying to accomplish? I also don’t understand the purpose of the chaos that is your preferred posting style. While it can be occasionally amusing, it’s more frequently distracting and annoying. Please consider this a request to tone down the randomosity a notch or twelve.

On Hero:

Unless I’m reading several posters wrong, Hero has now been voted for encouraging the masons to claim, and for discouraging the masons to claim. This feels like town-on-new guy violence.

On NBC:

The case against NBC is weak, but at this point it may be the best one out there.
Honestly, I’m looking for somewhere else to put my vote.

On Nanook:

I’m sincerely bothered by this softclaim. I’m willing to take Nanooks word for it that he wants at least one of us to vote for him each day. The reason for this could be exactly as he stated, OR it could be that votes for him advance his win condition somehow, OR it could be that he’s got a power that gets more effective with votes. There is absolutely nothing in this claim that convinces me that Nanook is any more likely to be Town than the rest of you. If I end up moving my vote, it’ll probably be to Nanook.

Yeah, we have a “random” vote for me, followed by OK11’s (now retracted), followed by a vote saying I’m too much in favor of a mason reveal, than a vote saying I’m too much against a mason reveal.

STRONGLY disagree–the fact that the masons have done the (IM, and apparently others, HO) the right thing does not change that Hero previously suggested the wrong thing.

My vote’s remaining on him, for the reasons I stated, until/unless someone else interesting comes along.

1. A quick thanks to those who pointed out the flaws in my reasoning about **Nanook of the North Shore** and his role. I still think we should wait one night and see if anything happens, but you’ve definitely made me reconsider the other things I’ve said.

2. If the Day ended this morning, the following people would have missed the voting deadline:
**Blaster Master
DiggitCamara
Fretful Porpentine
Hal Briston
JSexton
Kat
NaturalBlondChap**

I’d like to hear from them.

Briefly checking in here. Sorry I don’t have time for more substantial posts, but I’ll do the best I can until things lighten up this weekend.

WTF is with all the claims? The masons make sense to me - once **pedescribe** claimed and outed **amrussell** , I think it was wise for them all to come out given the “circle of confirmation.” But **peeker**? **Nanook**? I suspect that after the initial 3 claims were greeted with general acceptance, some scum took an opportunity to jump in there. No specific suspicion, just an inkling, and the half-informative nature of those claims doesn’t make me feel any better about them.

Then there’s this:

> [@Rapier42](#):
>
> On Hero:
>
> Unless I’m reading several posters wrong, Hero has now been voted for encouraging the masons to claim, and for discouraging the masons to claim. This feels like \*\*town-on-new guy \*\*violence.

(bolding mine)

Why do you say **OaOW** , **ok11** , **Total Lost** , and **Zeriel** (those voting for **Hero** ) are Town? This seems like a possible slip to me. It’s barely anything, but it’s better than my random vote for **Hal** , so:

**UnBan Hal Briston
Ban Rapier42**

I false claimed exactly once, in Conspiracy. And that hardly counts since it was a no-vanilla game where I was about to be lynched. Not false claiming in that situation is exactly the same as comitting suicide. Why shouldn’t I have lasted as long as I did? There’s no reason for town to ever lynch an uncounter claimed Witch in that format, and the Witches played it right by waiting to counterclaim until they did.

I’d like it if the people who are in such a rush to vote for me would explain exactly why. I haven’t really seen any reasons put forth, and every time someone votes for me Today, it’s one less person that can keep me alive later on. Keep in mind I am not Roosh, and don’t run around pulling crap out of my ass. There’s no milk here to be given out.

“Town on Town violence” is an established term for silliness in voting, is it not? I’m contending that since he’s being voted for being both for and against the Mason claims, _somebody_ on that list is misreading him, and placing a silly vote. I’ve got no reason to believe any of the players that voted for Hero are any more likely to be Town than the rest of you, if thats what you’re asking.
