SDMB Mock Election, Broken Down by Electoral Vote

Personal insults have no place in IMHO, as you should well know.

Illinois - Kerry.
And Barack Obama as well. :smiley:

As I stated in the OP, the polls closed at 8:00 PM Central Time last night, so any votes cast after that will be automatically disenfranchised.

There will be a couple of other disenfranchisements, too. At least one person admitted that he/she was too young to vote; also at least one admitted that he/she lived in a foreign country and was inelgible to vote in the US. Those votes are out.

Finally, I’m wavering on whether or not to disenfranchise those who couldn’t resist electioneering at the polling place (IOW, debating/flaming while casting your vote).

I got home late last night and didn’t have time to tally the votes. I’m leaving for work in a few minutes and I doubt I’ll have time to work on the votes at work. So, unless someone wants to do my job for me, the results won’t be in until at least 5:30 PM Central Time tonight.

Washington, DC. Kerry.

We pollworkers had to periodically go out on Super Tuesday and tell the electioneerin’ types to clear off the block because they couldn’t be within 150 feet of the door. Ya chase them away, they come back, ya chase them away again…it’s like feeding stray cats. So I say yes, disenfranchise them or they’ll be yowling under your windows for milk every night.

<twiddles thumbs, waiting for results>

Do what you like HeyHomie (you will anyway), but I say leave the poll up until election night. Unlike reality, not all dopers KNOW about this poll, or know the date and time for it to ‘close’.

As to editorializing…well, it IS a message board after all. Maybe someday the folks who control the SDMB will put in a real polling feature (which is on a lot of other boards).

Yeah, but since this was a straw poll, I think a five-day run is sufficient to get a good sample of votes.

There’s a thread in the Pit about this poll going on right now, where a handful of Bush supporters have vocalized their refusal to participate in this thread, based on the fact that they knew it would overwhelmingly favor Kerry.
