I love taking silhouette photos, and capturing patterns of light and shade, so this challenge was right up my street. I have _lots_ of silhouette shots sitting around in the archive. ---

I’d say they all suit the theme! I love the redwoods one - this reply box that I’m typing in happens to obscure the bottom half of the photo, so it’s a square crop along the top edge, and it looks quite abstract (and abstract photos are another love of mine). ---

Lots of great entries this month so far. It’s going to be hard to choose. Again. 😀 ---

Agreed. I think this month’s comp has easily the highest quality of entries that we’ve seen. And the thing is, it’s a consistently high level - they’re all really good. j ---

I meant to mention earlier: I love @Strinka ’s interpretation of the theme. “Shadow and light” - indeed! Bravo! There’s one photo posted this month (I won’t say which until the voting is done) which for my money is the best one we’ve ever had. Not my own, I hasten to add! ---

There is one photo this month that is far and away the best so far, IMHO, among another great field of contenders. This was my alternate. [![Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/PRz1WvX.jpeg "imgur.com") ](https://imgur.com/PRz1WvX) ---

This is awesome. I love it! I had a hard time deciding. I have a lot of these types of photos. Here’s a couple of the other ones I was considering: Chinese Lantern Festival in Cary, NC: [![Imgur](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53187788815_3b1c67bf64_b.jpg "PXL\_20230103\_222547606") ](https://www.flickr.com/photos/197666118@N08/53187788815/in/dateposted-public/) And this was a bouquet sent to me after I had surgery awhile back. It looks like studio lighting, but it’s just the skylight in our kitchen which was beaming down at a fortuitous angle. Why thank you! But I think it’s more down to nature than down to me. 😉 That bouquet is so good that it doesn’t look real! j ---

I’m always fascinated by shadows. Earlier this summer, the power was out. I had a lantern on a high bookcase and it produced this shadow. I thought it looked like an alien.
