# SDMB Monthly Photo Competition - rolling discussion thread

&nbsp; I see various discussion of potential rule changes, but it is difficult to sort out what is or is not a definite official statement on such.

&nbsp; To be clear, what rule changes have been established recently?

&nbsp; Are we allowed to use photos from our archive, or must we take fresh photos?

&nbsp; Are we allowed to include a backstory or explanation, such as how [my last entry](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/monthly-photo-competition-20-july-2024-bridges-poll-added/1003772/3) constitutes a _“bridge”_?
