I wonder if any of us can make it out of the year as a perfect survivor. I’ve got a shot - I have a few good teams saved up. It’s Gray Ghost, Borchevsky, and I who have the shot at it. It was the three of us (plus Cyberhwk) who survived last year too - but not as perfect survivors, we all had one strike. That Bucs game is a perfect example of why I don’t bet against the spread. Somehow I completely spaced on the fact that I still have Indy to use in survival. I don’t know if I would have ended up using them (I did give NYJ more confidence points) but I can say that I was not filled with confidence picking the Jets. Oh well. And it has seemed like a bit of a weird week with spreads. Tennessee’s endgame strategy looked like it was designed to lose the game but still cover, the Washington missed XP made the Bucs win but not cover 2 points, and the Philly game ended with them in scoring position needing just one more point to cover. Plus, who ever heard of Carson Palmer throwing a pick 6? 😃 ---

Well, my only real survival choices this week are Oakland vs Denver and Miami vs the Bills. I don’t like either. Oakland seems like a pretty good pick with Denver in disarray, but they’re due for their “wtf? Denver scored 50 points?” game. Denver has been pretty unpredictable although I guess with the interim coach/team shutting down thing it’s a pretty solid pick. ---

So we’re down to 8230 out of the original ~270k players in yahoo survival, and still 2 in our league. Isotopes/Petey was eliminated due Miami, and Omni didn’t make a pick. That leaves Ghost and I as perfect, and Borchevsky and Varlos as 1 strikers. I’ve got a real shot at surviving this season, the first time we’ve had that. I can use Dallas against Ari, Jacksonville against Washington, Miami against Detroit, NYG against Washington, NYJ vs buf, Phi against Minessota, lots of good options. ---

77% of the remaining survivors were eliminated this week… tough week. Only 750 people still perfect out of the original 270k. Ghost and I were among the last 3300 or so. ---

Oh, fuck! I was right fucking there in both the spread and confidence leagues (\*and \*the yardage leage), and then I fucking overslept today without making my picks. I got up at 11:15, and I had an alarm set for 11:30, so I just decided to rest my eyes until my phone went off. Then next thing I know it’s 1:54 and I’m still lying on the couch. Honestly, I blame drugs: smoked a little bit of pot last night for the first time in like a year, and it’s always led to an unusually heavy sleep for me. If we only got the word out to kids about the potential fantasy/pick’em implications of drug abuse, I’m sure we could do a lot of good. ---

Looking at the picks, you’re not the only one that decided to omit the morning games, Varlos. One of the reasons I try to get them in on Wed or so, because I know I’ll space, and forget to do it on the weekend. Sucks. I was looking forward to trying to honestly make up some of the ground on you in the Confidence league—the spread league is a lost cause for me. ---
