After a long hiatus, the SDMB Retrospective US Presidential Election Series is back…

Without hindsight, I would have voted for Hayes as the candidate of the Party of the Union and Abolition but in light of the “Compromise of 1877”, I’d have made a protest vote for the Greenback Party and its candidate Peter Cooper instead.
