One last bump for people who might want to sign up before the season starts tomorrow.
We have 15, that’s a pretty nice number.
Be sure to double check your rosters to make sure you’re happy with them.
Good luck.

3 Spirit-capped Mundi 93.44
Feel free to post who you are if your team name doesn’t make your SDMB name obvious.
Bad week for Isotopes when his kicker scored more than half of his total points. His roster isn’t bad, either, just a string of bad performances from everyone he chose. I didn’t think it would be possible to pick a roster of starting players and score that lowly. Hats off.
If any member of your team lost value, you can click “update team value” on your team page to recoup the difference.
Monsters of the Buffet is me…bwhahaha.
Almost all my guys gained value, guess I’m sticking with the same roster.
Top 4 scores this week (I’m gonna start doing 4, cause, I dunno, 4/16 seems right)
117.15 Varlos the GM Wannabe
111.65 Nine Inch Neils
97.37 Got To Get You Under The Cap
89.82 irishavis
The preseason fantasy studs haven’t been very studlike, have they?
I switched to Steven Jackson when his value dropped after the first week, I figured it was a fluke, and I gave up Gore for him.
Cinci defense thankfully backfired big time.
I would like to point out my genius this week:
Sep 14 6:21pm B. Edwards (Cle - WR) SELL
Sep 13 5:29pm New England (NE - DEF) SELL
Sep 13 5:27pm F. GoreDTD (SF - RB) SELL
Sep 13 5:26pm L. Evans (Buf - WR) BUY
Sep 13 5:26pm Ch. Johnson (Cin - WR) SELL
ouch
I downgraded Chad Johnson to Lee Evans to pick up the money to go from Gore to Steven Jackson. Double backfire.
Anyone else make some really stupid moves?
Right now I’m torn as to whether I should dump Tom Brady who I have at $18ish for Shaub who’s going to be a crazy value at QB but not a total stud.

Ha, a tie, in a league that deals with hundredths of a point.
I feel ripped off on the whole LaMont Jordan thing. I’m in a RB yardage pool an another forum… and after reviewing runners, rushing defenses, and tendencies. I decided that Oakland would run all over Miami. Well Jordan was doing fine, 75 yards in a quarter and a half, but then went out due to injury. Fargas then comes in and runs for 175 or so. So I was totally right - Oakland ran for 250+, but I didn’t get credit for it, either in this league or the yardage pool.
I’m actually on the top 50 (#45) of fans from Nevada. I wonder how many there are. 139th on Fans of Cleveland. It says I’m 97th percentile of fans of Cleveland and 96th of Fans from Nevada… cool.

I missed out on switching Addai for someone else (possibly Keith, who had a great week) by about 5 minutes and got a 0. Now I have to decide if getting another 0 for Addai on his bye week is worth it to save $3.87 the rest of the year.

If you go to “fantasy home” and then just click “salary cap football” rather than your team or any particular groups, it’ll tell you where you rank in each group you’re in.
I’m 5232nd overall, which doesn’t sound impressive, but there are over 150k people playing. (97th percentile)
153rd in Cleveland fans (96th)
36th in Fans from Nevada (97)
What about you guys?
Anyone have any idea why Addai’s cost/value went up $.36 during his bye?
He got healthier. It dropped prior to his being made inactive two weeks ago.
What have you guys learned?
I have two teams on two seperate accounts. On one I focused on a balanced team, in the other at the start of the season I built my team to be able to take Tomlinson. Figures… I finally gave up on Tomlinson, then he puts up 200/4.
I’ve decided that QB is a bad place to skimp. I got Shaub at like $5, which is a crazy value, but QBs are the premier players of this league. The scoring system in this league is TD-centric, and passing TDs are worth as much as any other kind. Having Tom Brady for $18 on my one team has propelled it quite far.
There’s plenty of receiver value to be had in the $9-11 range.
Grab the cheapest kicker you can - the rookies started cheap. I grabbed Crosby, but I probably should’ve grabbed Folk. Oh well… kickers.
Defenses actually play a big role - their average weekly score can be as big or bigger than players at other positions. I had the Minnesota defense in one league when they were putting up 20+ each week early in the season and it saved my otherwise mediocre team.
I have Randy Moss locked up at $8.13 in one league and Tom Brady at $18 in the other. Oh how I wish I would have them both locked up at that price in the same league.
Anyone thinking about giving Jesse Chatman a go as a cheap back? He’s got potential… as pathetic as Miami is, Ronnie Brown was the leading RB in standard yahoo FF (not sure about salary cap). I just may, but I like having Adrian Peterson at $12ish too and I’m definitely not giving up Addai at $10…
I noticed that players lose value during their bye week as if they’d played but put up 0 stats. Strange.
Believe it or not, even at 27.64 Tom Brady is one of the best values, with a cost per point of .14. To those of us who have him locked up at $18.37 we’ve gotten a cost per point of .09 out of him.
Omni, what rank are you among Chicago fans, and whichever state you live in? And for that matter, overall?
For the second time in a week, I’m getting a shot at free money doing the sort of stuff I already do with my football on the SDMB competitions.
A few days ago I found out local my sports bar has a free pick 'em pool that rewards pretty decent prizes. Today I find out that a sports book I have an account with is doing essentially salary cap football for money - and right now they’re in a beta phase, and people with accounts participate with monopoly money for free, but with thousands of dollars of real prizes for the high scorers.
The structure works a lot like poker tournaments - you create a team based on the salary cap and then enter it into individual contests. You compete against other players, and the house wins by taking a 10% fee for entries (so you submit $110 to a $100 tournament), and then the prize pool is awarded to the top finishers. Like… 10 players at $100 a pop might reward $500 to first, $300 to second, and $200 to third.
Cool idea, I may end up playing that sort of thing for real. But for now it’s a free beta with real cash prizes, so… awesome.

What did they do to values this week? Seems like there was some giant mid-season value update.
Derrick Anderson for instance put up almost the exact same stats as last week (literally - 18/25 245 3/0 vs 18/25 248 3/0) and last week gained like $4-5 but this week gained $8.73.
Tony Romo was on a bye, and gained $6.
Bizarre. It’s like they applied a mass update for the entire season. Although I figured the week to week adjustments might be too small - some star players were still fairly affordable. But still… this was unexpected.
But… it can’t really be some mid-season value thing, could it? Jake Delhomme went up by $6 and Andre Johnson by $4, and they haven’t played in enough games to give themselves a boost. Is it based on average per game performance? Because then Delhomme/Johnson would make sense.
My best guess is that they use two seperate formulas to come up with previous seasons (they use the previous 2 seasons to calculate the starting value of a player) and week to week calculations. And now that the season is half over, they applied the former calculation all at once.
I don’t know, though. What this does is basically force you into using the players you’ve already got - the value on star players has increased so much in one week that you can’t afford to switch players, because if you’re getting a good receiver at $11 now, you can’t afford to switch him with an equal-level player for $16.
Fortunately I’m pretty happy with the long term look of my roster. I’m now paying less for Brady than I save - I’m paying $18.37 and saving $21.92… almost the same for Addai, paying $10.48 and saving $10.14. Saving $5 on Moss and $6 on Braylon. The total value of my team is almost $160.
Edit: the total value of teams would be a cool scoring metric. It’d be cool if they had a leaderboard for it.
