# SDMB threads now googleable

I just noticed that SDMB threads now show up in google searches. They were notably absent in the past due to settings in the [robots.txt](http://boards.straightdope.com/robots.txt) file. Is this change related to the introduction of the google ads here?

I’m guessing it would almost have to be. Otherwise the “targeted” ads wouldn’t be.

[This](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/archive/index.php/f-3-p-266.html) is the type of page that comes up. It leads to a barebones index of the boards.

Heck, if the pages were chronologically organized by last post (instead of thread creation), it might be doable to read like that. And, ironically, no ads!
