So… I’ve been eagerly awaiting this thread and have decided to start it myself. I can’t put it more precisely, so I’ll quote \*\*twickster \*\* [bracketed words are mine]: For those who haven’t participated before, here’s the drill: You send your (IRL) name and address [with your SDMB username please] to the Designated Recipient of Names and Addresses [me]. He or she [she] makes up lists with this information to distribute. [I’m thinking 15 to 20 people per list; with your email, state how many lists you would like to do.] \ Once you get the list, you send a valentine (homemade, if you’re cool, like \*\*cranky \*\* or {ahem} me, but storebought “nice” and storebought “dollar store” are also more than okay) to each person on the list. Then you sit back and wait for your mailbox to fill with greetings from all over the country! the continent! the world! (Yes, Canadian Dopers are welcome to participate – international Dopers as well, but it’s going to cost you a lot more in postage than it’s going to cost us.) Cheap thrills, but LOTS of fun. I’m in. On the list, can we specify our gender and the gender we wish to receive from? Some dopers(myself included) may not want to send/receive Valentines with people of the same sex. ---

These tend to be friendly valentines, not romantic ones, **Iceland Blue**. Since most participants tend to be women, though, your heterosexuality should be safe. I’m in – of course. Though I’m not going to promise homemade onest this year. C’mon, people – we’re not going to let this fine old Doper tradition die, are we? ---

I participated in this last year–the very first time I’d participated in anything outside of the boards, and had an absolute blast. I simply cannot describe the thrill of opening card, after card, filled with valentine’s, glitter, a really cool bookmark and all kinds of well wishes. It was amazing. I am absolutely, most definately, in. Heck, I’ve been planning since March 2004 what I’m going to do for the NEXT Valentine’s SDMB exchange… ---

That would put a lot more effort into the project than I want to give. So… no, I will not customize lists for anybody in that regard. If you don’t see your name… it occured to me that there might be confusion with the address. That is the singular form (Valentine), not plural (-tines). I’m replying to each email to confirm that I received it, so at this point you should be able to tell if I did or didn’t. Please resend if you think I didn’t get the first one. Thanks. 🙂 ---
