SDMB Valentines Exchange '08*

Mine was sent out via FedEx today. Still working on the ecards…

my postal valentines have been sent. The 'merikans should have them Wednesday - the furriners - about a week (sorry about that)

My valentine cards have been sent last thursday. Since according to the post office, it takes around seven days for them to get to their destination, they should arrive on the 14th (give or take a few days).

Got one from **GT ** today - YAY!! Actually, it was a card within a card.

And better still, I didn’t get any bills!

Today’s mail held treasures from GardenTraveler, MCUNE, and Pandora, with a little extra from **gt ** - a Dora the Explorer card with a monkey on it. squee

There is something wonderful about being able to come home and “squee” at the mailbox contents. Today’s cards included a lovely one from a “secret admirer” in the UK (thanks, BooFae!) and a wonderful card from Anaglyph. I’ll let everyone else receive theirs from Anaglyph and will post pictures later (she’s only sending a few and everyone should get to see). Both cards made me break out in a broad grin, which is a major accomplishment, given the day I’ve had today.

For those of you who are sending e-greetings: I just realized I have one more e-mail address to send to you. Will do that in a bit. I also owe that person everyone else’s address.

tdn, it seems to me I saw a site recently. I’ll go look. If not, just send an e-mail with a greeting. I’m sure everyone would prefer that to getting a card that they’re not sure will do something to their computer. (You could link to a picture on flickr or photobucket or someplace reputable like that, if you like.)

I need to go eat dinner and then I’ll do follow-up e-mails. If you have other questions either PM me or send to the Valentine’s address.

Thanks everyone for participating!!!

Bluemountain.com, a very reputable, well establihed site, has a one month free trial. They also have built in security features. I’ve been using them for as long as I’ve had the internet - almost 15 years - with no untowards effects.

I got one from “a secret admirer” and one from Pandora! Cool “surprise”!

Or perhaps today. Thank you, that was awesome!

Also thanks to twickster and McUne for the nice cards!

Yup, me too! I think I’m going to have to put these all up on the fridge or something. It’s so much fun getting the mail and having valentine’s in there!

I never thought to include a bit of a surprise in mine! I’m keeping that in mine next year.

I did think about tossing some glitter in the envelope, but thought that might make a bit of a mess, even though it would be all nice and sprakly.

my ecards have seen sent, too, but delayed to arrive on the 14th.

and I should mention that since BlueMountain.com is such a popular site, it can be annoyingly sluggish at times.

Okay, my little packages have been sent out - with the help of my daughter. Hopefully, most of them should arrive in time for Valentine’s Day - with the exception of one going overseas. Mea culpa about that, but you’ll at least get a little treat with it.

So far, I’ve received cards from FCM and McUne (very wonderful hand-made one, btw!). I’m also working on sending e-cards to ones I have email addresses for–you should get those on Valentine Day, hopefully.

It’s wonderful receiving these Valentines, and thanks to all for participating, especially for GT for putting it all together.

One more thing …

Does anyone know if the hallmark.com ecards are okay? I mean, they don’t have malware on there, do they?! I hope not!!! Hallmark.com is the site I’ve used for years!

We arranged for ours over the weekend and they should be in your mailboxes before Thursday, hopefully!
I can’t tell you how much fun it’s been to get them at our house; my husband and I take turns opening the ones addressed to both of us and are delighted in those addressed separately! And of course, it’s better than bills!!
We put them up on our counter ledge so we can see them from anywhere in the room.

Got one from **doggie ** today!

tarra, I got the goodies from you today - YAAAAYY! And thank you! You brightened a gloomy, icky day!

I got one from Pie. Isn’t this fun?

tarra - I would think Hallmark should be fine. The only thing is that they may have an option when the recipient opens the card to get on some type of mailing list. I can’t imagine they would deliberately do something malware-ish. I think the sites to worry about would be less established ones that aren’t household names. (Blue Mountain and Hallmark fall into the household name category in my book.)

Woohoo! I got a couple from yesterday and one more came in today! Yesterday I got Valentines from McUne (so pretty!), twickster (ooooooh how royal), FairyChatMom (sweet, gonna put that on and wear to work and show how tough I am), Pandora (woohoo, just like MAD - and the little extra is sitting on my computer!), and today I got one from gardentraveler (beautiful!!) with an extra Dora card inside* squeeee*!

I only managed to send mine out this morning, so they’ll very probably come a bit late.

I’ve added a little something to each Valentine I sent out, if there’s any confusion as to what it is, post it in here, I’ll clear it up. Everyone got a little something different, depending on what I had on hand, but it’s all the same thing. And it’s handmade. By me.

I got one from GT today! I love the dora card and the other one was simply elegant! Did you make the card GT?

There’s an addressed stack sitting next to me that will be stamped and sent in the morning. This may be the earliest I’ve ever gotten mine out.

Also, three have arrived - but I’m not sure from where, as I’ll feel guilty opening them before Valentine’s Day (or before mine have been sent out.)

Thanks for putting this together gardentraveler. It’s nice to have something other than junkmail in the mailbox.
