SDMB weekly Bible Study (SDMBWBS)-Week 34 Genesis 49 & 50

Here’s a question regarding these threads. Should we keep making a thread for each week or starting tomorrow (which will be the first one for Exodus), have the thread be for each book? IOW, Exodus would be its own thread and every week we would just add the next verses that are to discussed.

It makes sense to have a thread per book to keep things together. But the bigger books would make for some loooong threads. So far it’s been nice to have this book at least split up by weeks - the links make it easy to find something when I want to go back and reread or reference. Can you make links to the start point of different weeks within the same thread? Or is that messy?

If you want to start one thread per book beginning with Leviticus, OK, but he first part of Exodus (up through the Golden Calf) is really very dense, the literary/drama is intense, and there’s philosophy/theology like crazy (including issues of freewill vs pre-determination, security vs freedom, morality, justice, etc.)

I’d like to echo the sentiments of my fellow Dopers in hoping that Dex and the other scholars continue to share their thoughts and insights as they have up to this point. I find it all fascinating.
