I’ll be interested in this info too. Our scale is reliably about 6 pounds low. Also, I tend to weigh myself several times and take the average. Something more accurate would be nice!

Scarlett67, I’ve done a wee bit of research and [this](http://www.amazon.com/Tanita-BF679W-Scale-Monitor-Water/dp/B0009V1YPK/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t)Tanita scale seems to get good reviews. I’ll be buying it in about a week and a half. I’ll report back on what I find re: accuracy.

Oddly, Consumer Reports has no reviews of bathroom scales.

I started at sparkpeople last week. I’m within healthy BMI and all, but I did gain a bit of weight over the summer (first time having an office job, which is largely sedentary and fairly boring. I’d been over-snacking to keep up the morale and it took a toll). I’m 5’6" and 130lbs and would like to take it down to 120 lbs, which was my weight when I graduated high school three years back.

At any rate, thank you very much, MsWhatsit, for the referral. Been logging the calories and I voluntarily went out running for the first time in years. It feels good, real good.

Im needing some motivation this week so thought I’d pop in and say hello! Seeing how well you guys are doing will hopefully help me keeping fighting on with this. Since Jan 2nd 2009 I have lost 4 stone and 1 pound. The weight is coming off more slowly now and Im feeling alittle happier that Im now the UK size average for a woman (UK Size 16), I have some size 14 clothes but would sum myself up as a 16. For those of you feeling a little down about current progress like me - dont allow yourself to feel down. Keep going and you’ll soon start seeing the results that you want!

Take care folks x

Hi, I think I’ll join you guys. I gained a few pounds over the winter (way too much chocolate and fried ravioli saw me through record snows) and over the past six weeks I’ve slowly lost all but a pound or two of that, mostly through increasing my exercise levels. Surprisingly, even though I haven’t given up sweets all together, because frankly I don’t think I can, cutting them back has reduced my cravings quite a bit. I didn’t expect that without eliminating sugar all together.

My current goal is to lose another inch off my hips _and_ 10 pounds by the end of September - ten pounds less would put me in the high 140s, which is the most I’m supposed to weigh. I lost ten pounds three years ago and kept it off until this winter, so I feel like I’m setting fairly realistic goals for myself. But no more treating SAD with chocolate, huh?

I didn’t think a new thread was warranted - but we can start one if others think so…

Anyway, here is my update:
On June 2nd by doc told me to lose 20 lbs. To make it a round ending number, I’ve bumped that to 22.

As of today, I am down 17! Only 5 more to go until my next milestone! 🙂

Works as well as expected. Certainly, I trust it more than my old scale. This version has heel pads, so you know where to stand and how to stand. Kind of disappointing in that I knew my old scale was light, but at least I can be more confident in my results.

I’m still trying to lose the 7-10 pounds (depending on what my body is doing) I gained around Easter due to the Evil that is the Cadbury Creme Egg. I can still fit into a size 14 but it really depends on the clothing manufacture on how tight it feels. But I’ll be darned if I’ll buy any 16’s. But my efforts to make them more comfortable have been pretty half ass lately. I’ll check out Sparkpeople for some inspiration.

A big test came for me yesterday, however, and I passed with flying colors. When I was well over 200 pounds, I always worried about falling and not being able to get myself up on my own. Well, yesterday, for the first time in years, I did fall and I got myself up quickly and easily. And there was none of that awful adrenaline-fueled fear that I would have felt before even if I’d just stubbed my toe. Yay, me!

And\*\* Khadaji,\*\* yay for you too!

**Tikki,** good for you. It is often these little victories that make us feel the best, eh? 🙂

I can’t recall if I said this earlier. At my next milestone I will weigh what I weighed when I got out of college 20 years ago at the age of 27. Mind you, I’m a little less muscle dense, so I’m still fatter - but hey, not too shabby! (On review, I see I _did_ say that earlier…)

I ended up buying a Weight Watchers digital scale. Yeah, I know, I’m a total WW shill, but their products haven’t let me down yet. I’ve been weighing myself at home right before I go to WW, and it’s usually pretty damned close to the WW scale. Good enough for me! I also like having the 0.2-lb resolution; helps show small changes.

I see that since I posted last in mid-July, I’ve lost almost another 10 pounds. This week I weighed in at 34 pounds lost, 1 pound short of halfway to goal! (And I did rock that little black dress for my anniversary dinner. Felt like a million bucks!)

I’ve also cleaned out my closet, packed away everything that’s too big (I’ll donate or sell it all once I’ve been at goal for a while), pulled out stuff that needs repair or alteration and things that were too small but now fit me. I’ve got a lot more T-shirts and a lot less nice-casual clothes – but some nice casual dresses I can wear now, and a few still to shrink down into. I plan to buy only what I need (maybe a few pairs of non-ratty jeans for fall) until I get to goal. Then I’ll treat myself to a shopping spree! Right now my closet looks positively bare. (A good thing; I really had too many clothes, and couldn’t/wouldn’t wear a lot of them.)

Other little milestones:

(1) I used to be able to wear only “plus size” sarongs (extra long to wrap around a larger body). This week I tried a regular one, and not only could I tie it, but I would totally wear it!

(2) Tried on a pair of tailored pants about a month ago; they were snug, but wearable. Wore them again the other day, and they were too LOOSE!

(3) I can now walk through our pass-through dog gate without my hips brushing the sides.

(4) Checked myself out in the mirror today wearing my denim stretch leggings, which are now actually a bit loose, and I would totally wear them in public with a shirt that’s NOT long enough to cover my entire ass.

That. Is. Awesome.

Congratulations.

(Don’t worry about being a WW shill. I have their food scale, and I love that thing.)
