Since we had a big snow yesterday and last night, I’m finding out today what great exercise shoveling can be … but my arms are killing me! Off to shovel the last part for today!
Down five pounds since December 31st. Getting into better habits. Weight training. Made it through PMS with only a few bouts of inappropriate eating. Trying to realise that falling off the wagon doesn’t mean you stay down there on the ground. Working on eating only until full, eating slowly enough that I feel the ‘full’ signal, then stopping. Reading the English hypnotist guy’s book that Can Make Me Thin, apparently. Making lots of soup. Thinking: this is a project for the next few years, and then the rest of my life. Keeping busy. Funny, but not feeling like snacking in the evening–fabulous. Still motivated. Speaking in short sentences.
Can anyone recommend any good DVDs that target core workouts or strength training type exercises that don’t require weights?
I think that it’s great that they have that feature because lots of people don’t have the time or money to go to a gym. I broke down and did Jillian’s Biggest Loser one and it wasn’t quite as hard as Bob’s but it was still painful. I think that at this point anything that leaves me sore the next day is good for me so I’m going to work them in. That would have me at 3 days of Zumba (which is the most fun), 2 days of weights and 2 days of painful calisthenics. I’ll check out the one that you suggested. The hip hop one they have now is fun but not a very hard workout. I don’t like the music much but I like the moves. I don’t know how people find the motivation to work out every day if it isn’t usually fun, but I can’t.
Haven’t budged one bit.
Damn.
I just did the BL Bob video and I may never be able to walk again. After 6 months of working out I’m surprised that I have any muscles left that haven’t been worked enough not to hurt, but obviously I’m not doing something right with my cheapo weight machine. I hate calisthenics but they do seem to be effective in making you hurt like hell.
Stretch before and stretch after. Stretch stretch stretch. So many of us don’t do that (I know I’m bad at it, but I do mainly cardio.)
Was that the CardioMax one? That one nearly did me in earlier this week.
I’m sore all over. I’ve been trying to convince myself that I’m working out too hard so I can stop :), but I think as long as I haven’t ripped anything or broken anything, I’m okay. Weights tomorrow, probably with Jillian. Her 30-Day Shred is awesomely painful.
Me neither. Let’s meet up halfway for yoga in Hampden.
Grrr. Started the month at 166.5, dropped down to 159, and now am back up to 163 (curse you, Carl’s Jr!). Hope I can close the month out with a little more dignity, but really need to get that exercise program into gear…
Weigh in tomorrow.
We’ll see.
Yep, it was CardioMax. The first time that I did it hurt to walk for the rest of the day, and by the following morning I could barely get up if I bent my knees. My first reaction was ‘to hell with this’ but then I did one of Jillians 30 day shred ones and it wasn’t quite as bad and I was only slightly sore. Today I made myself do Bob’s again and I made it through more lunges and side squats before I started to whine than I did the first time. Hopefully tomorrow won’t hurt as badly. Zumba uses a lot of those moves but not quite as hard or deep, or for as long. I think that I can do that one with more intensity to work the same muscles.
Another 2 pounds this week. That’s a 7 pound loss for January. Not bad.
That’s great, Gemma!
I have been so, so bad about getting to the gym this week. I was traveling in a different time zone Monday - Wednesday, including a red-eye home, and it’s messed me all up. Back on the horse tomorrow. Well, not an actual horse, but running and BootCamp.
I have a big pot of ratatouille on the stove. It’s currently my favorite lower-cal way to cram a ton of veggies in, and works really well with a simple side of lean protein.
I’m rooting for you, kiddo!
